crazy how an acclaimed series can just come and go without me ever being aware of it. so much tv being produced nowadays...

i think it's been largely ignored because it's german. which by the way, netflix will autoplay the english dub, got to change that.

oh yeah. Same thing with the show Elite, on both counts. It blew my mind when Netflix defaulted to a horrible English dub instead of Spanish subs.

dark is incredible. not sure if they can sustain it, but it's definitely one of the best recent shows.

same. it's a tough first season to follow but hoping the long break has given them enough time to write something good.

I think that I agree with this

Also Dark has that killer song by Nena feature heavily in it

hey I watched a futile and stupid gesture last night and I kinda liked it a lot! watched it only because will forte and natasha lyonne were in it
an interesting biopic, pretty original formally and with some funny stuff (joel mc hale playing chevy chase)
it includes the trademark netflix drone shot

I'm watching The Magicians (just finished S1) and it's like this perfect halfway point between Buffy and something like the Vampire Diaries. The cast could be better, but otherwise I'm really enjoying it.

Shrill pretty decent. Aidy Bryant is good.

late on this but pen15 was genuinely funny and insightful. they should award a special emmy for being 12 years old in the year 2000 verisimilitude. wild things ep was a tour de force. also it took me until like the 3rd ep to realize the leads weren’t actually middle school aged actresses and it knocked me the fuck out

edit: yes it's just as stupid and fun as i thought. three of the couples are so compellingly awful and the two kind couples are so encouringly sweet. the format is so insane. i love that they get so aggressively into the pricing

edit 2: someone alert me IMMEDIATELY if they end up watching this.

my wife and I watched this entire series last saturday. loved it. hated Leroy in the first season, but once they came back for the finale and had to deal with Mikey & Shay I was rooting for Leroy to verbally take them down and he did not disappoint.

Mikey and shay... oh lordy
well that was intense

I think I'm up to episode 5 of 6 of After Life and while the supporting cast are all british character actors I enjoy but the av club sums it up correctly with "On paper, Ricky Gervais’ latest series sounds promisingly wicked: In After Life, the Office and Extras creator plays a recent widower who’s so angry about his wife’s death that he decides to punish everyone around him by being an unfiltered asshole. Rather than some kind of madcap dark comedy, the “punishment” takes the form of a dreary, sarcastic self-pity party that also manages—in a magic trick perhaps only Gervais is capable of pulling off—to constantly point out its protagonist’s intellectual superiority."

like he's incredibly depressed but I think he's still a real piece of unlikeable shit and the show tries to show he has a heart but he's still a bullying shit who pours water on his wife and giggles at it like a youtube star

I'll probably watch the whole thing anyway :|

Dark was like a show perfectly tailored to my tastes, I fucking loved every second of it

I didn't mind the ending, mostly cause I know the new season will probably come out this year, so it doesn't bother me that it was a cliffhanger. I can see why it'd be tough to swallow at the time tho

i'm gonna start the OA tonight which I also haven't seen and know nothing about

Watched entire first season of PEN15 over the weekend it is was so good. So many movies and TV shows try to capture what it was like growing up in that era and fail but this was spot on. Watching scrambled porn with your friends, AIM, doing a video project for school, etc. Plus it was hilarious
