(i'm waiting for the full album at this point. i went out for a run to the (then-released) batch of pre-release singles on the weekend and stuff was alright. "gone" is the clear standout - insane banger. Clairo/Yaeji, Haim, Skye songs were underwhelming. i had warmed to the Lizzo and Troye songs surprisingly, though i still think "track 10" is canonical/unimpeachable. TAKES)

but like i said on the other page these songs sound like ideas for better and bigger fleshed out songs. idk given the people involved i expect something more than a pc music demo

More than anything I friggin hate this release strategy of releasing half the songs before the album is out. Really makes it hard to assess the songs or the album on their own merits.
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

Especially for this 2099 release--the full album is out in 3 days. Just release the whole thing early (i guess there are sales considerations that preclude that) or just sit on the track for 72 more hours.

i think part of the problem with this not hitting like her last few is that that ag cook pc music aesthetic is everywhere now. i mean the songwriting isn’t that superlative either but

anyway vroom vroom still fucks hard

so far so good, even if 1999 sticks out like a sore thumb.

I remain baffled that "warm" landed like a wet fart for the most part itt, it's a fucking great track

Honestly, zero bad songs. Could've probably trimmed off 1999 and BIOYL for dat 10/10 succ and leave them as singles

same. IMO White Mercedes is the weakest track here I’m kind of glad she didn’t release it as a single either

yeah I think that's where I am after one spin. I like both of those tracks a bit but they definitely feel awkward in context, 1999 moreso but BIOYL too

Yep!

But you don’t need to listen to the songs when they come out. I’ve held out and waiting to blast this on the way home after a Friday night out :)
