Let's talk hats

Weather apps are super bad about selling your granular location info to any and everybody so I recommend not downloading them for starters

my fingerprint is unlocking my phone as i take it out of my pocket, so by the time i even get a chance to see the screen, it's already at the homescreen.

Yeah this thread has me wondering if I'm missing out on something. The only time I look at my lock screen is for the time and notifications and it's overall the least important part of the OS for me

And again for the unconverted, nova launcher rules and gives me exactly the Android experience I want.

Unrelated, pixel 6 seems to take forever to charge? Battery life is good enough but I feel like my pixel 2 fully charged in like 30 min? Whatever I guess

My info is useless. Sell it to whomever you want.

lol i got the weather info back in the unremovable "at a glance" widget but it involved going to settings/privacy and turning on "personalize using app data", which apparently "allows apps to send content to the android system"

i've since turned it off. we'll see if the weather sticks around

great job tying goddamn weather to a totally opaque personal info exfiltration mechanism

man i don't think i like my pixel 6 i just got. it charges super hot, the edges aren't as good as the oneplus for capturing gestures. the finger scan is dogshit. i haven't really gotten a chance to bother with teh software yet even

I don't have the hot charging issue.

The gesture thing is new for me, but I hear it can be disabled.

The fingerprint thing is fine for me. Just takes a beat.

Re: pixel 6

The fingerprint scanner is garbage. Google says it is by design for extra security lol sure.

I enabled smart lock using my location and that straight up doesn't work.

Charging takes a lot longer than any Samsung phone. I don't see an option for fast charging.

I will probably try Nova launcher so i can actually customize this piece of shit like Android used to let me.

I love Pixels, but I'm still convinced they peaked with the 3a. It's the best quality (at the time) to price point in smartphone history imo.

I did 1, 2, 3a and 5a and the 5a is waaay better for like 250 bucks

It ran hot for a few weeks when it shipped but it's been perfect since.

Much better camera, faster processor and bigger screen and battery

But i do officially hate that little jello bounce at the end of a scroll.

I was expecting the screen sorta pull against your finger if you try and pull something that can't be pulled. This is just a silly bounce though; it doesn't communicate what's happening with any sort of logic at all.

Getting to the end of a scroll should feel like a thud, not a sproing

Yeah but the 5a wasn't $250 at launch, right?

I thought I remembered some problems with the 4a that a ton of people complained about.

Probably just confirmation bias on my part.

Only if you had (or signed up for) a Google fi subscription.

9 bucks a month for 24 months. Easiest decision i ever made—especially since i had just stopped driving for a living, so my bill had dropped twice that, not having to spend all day streaming music and having maps going.

The Development team made one crucial error. They entered into the game an automatic sentry gun called a "Puckle."
