I've had two Galaxys and neither have sucked. It just takes a little time to get rid of all the bullshit they come installed with.

S21 is great but yeah as with other Samsungs you just need to get rid of bloatware initially.

That's definitely the best thing about pixels

No bloatware, just the surveillance state software Google was forced to install

i used to have an ipod touch way back in 2012 and didn't find iOS (i guess it was iOS? it could do facetime) that annoying. has it gotten worse?

For me it's that it's very rigid in its design

Everything goes where it's supposed to go and there's little control over how the os looks and feels

the fingerprint reader on the 6 pro is working well for me, much better than the ones on the back on older models. but I got mine after the first update.

I love this guy

As far as I know, it still is their phones' claim to fame.

And after another decade, they'll almost certainly have upgraded those phones to a very clean/stock Android 11.1.

hello friendos, all of a sudden my 3 1/2 year old pixel 2 is starting to do a bootloop/shutdown thing at least once a day at anywhere between 75-50% battery. i assume this is planned obsolescence catching up with me. i figure it might be time for me to replace since i might be able to get an ok deal this weekend/monday (and also my bro in law works for google and can get me employee discount, which is not very much but better than nothing). my main phone things are storage space (i dont pay for streaming) and camera quality (to take pics of my balls). do i need to go top of the current line for that shit, or is there a more basic model that would serve my needs? i havent looked at anything yet so a nudge in the right direction would be great. would prob prefer to stick w/pixel since ive had no complaints other than the shit that just started happening this week, which as i understand it is just one of those things. thank u in advance!!!

Pixel 4a or 5a (is there a 5a?) Offers best bang for buck imo
Great camera, 128gb, good battery life and fast charging

5a is only 399 right now
i wonder if a bit of a splurge (on sale) would stave off the next round of planned obsolescence tho

I turned the animations back on and realized how much I'm missing out on by having them off to get rid of the dumb bottom of the page bounce. Fuck!!!

I enable Dev mode by tapping the version number and then set the animation scale to 0.5, it's less PowerPoint transitiony that way

unfortunate to report that my screen has been doing a weird rolling shutter flicker thing every so often when I wake it. seems like it's somewhat prevalent: https://www.tomsguide.com/news/some-pix ... en-defects

I reeeally hate iOS, so I probably won't jump ship, but I used a friend's 13 Pro on a hike last week, and the (significantly) brighter screen made much more of a difference in real world camera use than I was expecting, and it's probably the most luxurious feeling phone I've ever held from a design perspective. shame about the price/OS

bummer because the pixel 6 is on sale for a pretty good price at best buy right now, i've been considering getting one but again these qc issues just make me want to use this pixel 3 until it dies entirely. the more i read about iOS the more i realize i probably wouldn't like it as much as android, i think i just find myself wishing for imessage/facetime quite frequently. for instance setting what your default apps are in iOS seems annoying from what i've read.

I had to ask an iPhone friend to pull up their Bluetooth devices yesterday to help them connect to a speaker and it was like watching a dog run an obstacle course.

I have to decide this week if I want to exchange for another 6, switch to a 4a/5a, or jump ship. If I exchange it will be primarily out of convenience, though I'd maintain it's a nice phone for the price. I'm also thinking about test running an iPhone for a year and then jumping back to pixel if the next gen is more refined and iOS doesn't stick. Not sure that would actually work though and mostly the thought of it just makes me hate this shit. I used to buy phones for the next two years, now I'd really like them to last at least four.

Sounds like the screen flicker is more prevalent on the 6 Pro, and Google is apparently going to address it in a December update, so it's not a hardware issue?

Idk it's a good phone, most of my nitpicks are OS related
