when The Blue Nile - Hats finally clicks

Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes
Run to your mansions
Come around
We'll kick your ass in

It was an even cooler revelation that, while Tinseltown in the Rain is their best song, Hats is a perfect album

Been listening to this a lot lately, too. They aren't related to Blue Nile, though are they? Aside from being Blue ____...?
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

walk having "i love this life" makes an argument for it being a better album imo

this is a very circumstantial album, but still, if this didn't totally click and register as something special when you first heard it, then idano what to say, although i do think lewis l'amour being a big thing around the time this record started coming back around had something to do with its regained magic

This is an example of an album that "unclicked" for me. I'm probably in its target audience and used to love it but all at once I couldn't stand it anymore. Not shading any of you, I have no "real reason" for this. It just started sounding saccharine and bad in a gross dumb way to me.

But fuck, that Blue Gas thing Eugenics posted! What group is that related to, or is it just a one-off?
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

i'm not sure what ties it all together, but i feel like there's this collection of simple 80s emotional music that really hits me the same way. like World of Echo (and to a lesser extent the Calling out of Context comp), L'amour, Romantic Times, and this are very different albums but have a certain interesting fragility that draws me to them. Trying to think of other things that hit this mood as well. Like they feel very proto night bus for some reason. Did we talk about them in the night bus thread?

From the 70s, Clube da Equina and Lo Borges' S/T maybe evoke similar feeling in me.
