Maybe my fuckin joke radar is broken tonight but if youre being serious he's a transphobe, see his response to bill C-16
i will concede to other stuff people don't like about this dude but it's pretty firmly not the case that he hates or is afraid of trans people. his position was that he didn't like the idea of compelled speech and if you watch a few of his vids you can see why he feels that way about it. he points out that it could have been any issue it just happened to be pronouns, but the real issue is compelled speech. i'm not saying i agree with it, that's just his position. take it or leave it but at least watch him defend himself if you haven't already. there's legitimacy to that side of it, imo. not entering into an argument tho
most speech is "compelled" in our society. the idea of free speech is liberal nonsense. he's going after trans people because he specifically dislikes them. it's really not hard to understand.
I get what your saying but i don't think mr. peterson"s 'argument' matters. Regardless of his intent his position on this issue is used to delegitimize trans people. That's what makes him transphobic.
blues if a point that you feel is worth bringing up is not also worth vigorously defending maybe you should rethink the first part of that equation, tone: sincere
how do you think Peterson would respond if everyone decided to call Peterson "she" or "that womanly looking so-called man" or other belittling remarks about his gender identity? if he had to deal with this constantly he might have a very different viewpoint on the issue, don't you think?

@murray st i just want people to look at things properly before they decide whether or not people are bigots. if i have any point it's that. his ideas can speak or not speak for themselves.

we've looked at it properly, more properly than you. and we've decided he's stupid, which he is.

cool, i mean you have no way of telling how much i've listened to what he has to say vs what you've listened to, but if that's the honest truth then i don't have any problem with your opinion on it. if you made up your mind based on some 2 minute video about it then i think it's worth delving deeper. that's all i have to say on it.

To be clear i think his intent is transphobic too, but he wants to appear as if he's coming at this from an angle of pure academic discourse.

can i start recommending some real intellectuals for you to listen to or read? it seems tragic that you might waste more than 2 minutes on peterson's pap.
