Word. No judgement or anything, I just have to train myself better not to click on these threads.
lots of things im v @ u cant make me read that but lost robots mapping out their lives and desires on paint through templates to be shared with fellow lost robots is for me
i tried explaining what r9k was like in 2008/9 to someone who had never been there before & on a whim i decided to see if it had been brought back, & not only was it back online, but it was the exact same as i remember it being nearly a decade ago
i havent been on r9k enough recently to do a proper mapping out also i would need more material to go by then my memories of early r9k (which i def lurked real heavily 2009-2010?) but i presume several spin off chan boards later for increasingly niche interests, bitterness towards moot, reddits growth and general radicalisation of the r9k type would make for some weird migrations and changes
also internal 4chan structure like adding the social board killed about a quarter of r9k posts although it was weird to have those two basically reverse posting styles together on the one board
i forget if they guy who wrote the manifesto on being rejected and shot a bunch of ppl up was claimed as a wizard or robot but im gonna presume it was robot and that might have shook things up.
i like the wizards mostly i mean for a group of ppl who identify around being older sad virgins they are real unpolitical which is basically the best u can ask and expect from such a grouping.
if anyone is interested i can add some academic papers on specific bits of 4chan culture (esp as im always lamenting on that its wrong to paint all of 4chan under the one brush) i like to the internet aesthetic nerd club thread.
obv the intellectual board has been lit for yonks, cant remember when lit was added maybe like 2010/2011? i have a few friends that talk about being friends with lots of lit posters i guess in the same way i do about the mu kids. not sure if they have migrated to facebook also however.
that article seems v up my alley but reading actual examples i cant fuckin do. when i was idiot teen in highschool i used to love trying to decipher bluelights philosophy board but ive gotten real particular and the only thing im prob a snob on is that philosophy should def only be discussed in v strict terms and fuckin never on a place like gamefaq or bluelight holy shit keep it academic.
goofy's dead wife wrote:yeah eliot rodger is just completely idolized by any adjacent circle of the internet to them at this point. actually i guess i'm mostly unfamiliar with wizardchan but there are threads about him on r9k almost every day.
i remember people trying to tell me r9k was the "intellectual" 4chan board which seems unreal to me at this point. i guess Life, The Universe, and Everything the proto-/b/ board on gamefaqs was also initially branded as being an "intellectual" board

I spent alot of time lurking r9k in 09-10. Saw some really really disturbing stuff, which l find upsetting looking back, that one of my first online communities as a 15 year old kid was full of disturbing content and that content was treated as normal. Anyway the only post i clearly remember making was posting a selfie in one of those 'rate your face' threads. No one even cared enough to rate it
