combination of trial and error, tool assisted stuff (like with emulators and entering very specific commands on each frame), looking at code.

even then there's some mysteries like:

the race was cool, but this current run feels off somehow. maybe a bit sloppy? not exacting enough for what i like from runs.

i feel like this isn’t much of a speedrun. he’s got some cool strats, but i feel most people could figure this out pretty easily. it’s mostly map routing

i definitely prefer the single runs over races. love poobear and caleb, and oats has a really charming personality

I didn't watch the 3DS Metroid run, though. Looked boring as fuck. Would like to watch the Super Metroid run if Twitch will let me, though it's not looking good.

about a week ago I beat Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in 9 minutes and 2 seconds, meaning in only about one year of practice my position in the THPS leader boards has moved from #14 to #10. Extrapolating from this rate of progress, it will only take 40 more years for me to have officially wasted my entire life.

highly recommend watching this with sound on, it good

Yeah what are you listening to?

what an ironic thread to repeatedly post super late replies in. As Jerry Lundegaard said, it's "Mark Kozelek" by Mark Kozelek. Perfect blend of ignorable and hypnotically distracting for this run and I really can't imagine beating this time without an absurd amount of effort. Since I posted this there's already a new runner in the #11 spot who will overtake me at their leisure, since they're already competitive in any% THPS.

Ya gotta love racing when it's incredibly close. Wasn't a multi-console DK relay won by three seconds or something, or a Mario Kart combined race with a difference of .02 seconds?

Tuning in tonight for Cuphead and Celeste. I’m very glad they got Celeste in this so quickly after release.

This Mario 3D land looks pretty cool. I never had a chance to play the DS Mario games. It seems especially platforming heavy, which I thought Odyssey was lacking.
