It's mildly annoying it still gets trotted out in relation to the band. Like, if you're still thinking "this is just The Fall" by the time of Wowee Zowee, something's wrong with your ears.

Name a better 90s college rock indie band than Pavement

I dare you!

I really really love Stephen Malkmus' solo albums, I've always liked the more Malkmus songs on Pavement too, which I guess explains why I like Terror Twilight so much

Edit: and while I'm here 25314

If you're talking about Yo La Tengo, I have to respectfully disagree

Yeah, after S+E they interpolated their Fall influence into their own thing but it was still present in their visual art and lyrical content. On S+E, though, it's definitely on full display.

Other than a few songs on S+E I always felt like early Pavement were more indebted to Swell Maps.

Malkmus's solo albums absolutely rip. Pavement completely rips. Brighten the Corners is my favorite. When I was 10 years old my dad and step-mom got married and moved in together, and consequently combined their CD collections. There were a lot of CDs that they both had, so for those that there were doubles of, me and my siblings drafted the CDs in an event that is known in my family simply as "The Draft". I got both Brighten the Corners and Terror Twilight in The Draft, along with probably about 15 other CDs, including several other albums that remain favorites to this day. But yeah, I remain partial to the latter-day pavement albums.

came in just to post this.

also, everyone should give watery, domestic a quick listen again. cuz its awesome.

also, the 2 b-sides on the trigger cut single both kick ass: sue me jack and so stark (you're a skyscraper).

i saw steven malkmus live a couple years ago at a small festival and i found the set interminable and really uninteresting. just boring jams on boring songs.

i probably have the biggest personal association with pavement out of any band ever. even though they do make me reallly nostalgic for a being a pissy teen discovering indie rock, i don't need to link them just to that. timeless band.

Pavement is one of those bands I loved so much that I can’t really listen to it any more

I was always a really big fan of their early eps and westing was probably my most played CD (which is probably weird, I know)

yeah, pavement was my go-to band for a while in college, but i hardly ever listen to them anymore. i think of them as more of a summer ba(be)nd, but maybe i should give them a spin today.

32145 for me.

Yeah obviously it's just a bunch of stuff on Westing + S+E we're talking about here. Maybe the odd other track here and there.
