what is your skincare routine?

mine is:

AM:
wash face with warm water, gentle physical exfoliation with a flannel
cetaphil moisturiser
35+ spf sunscreen

PM:
urban decay oil free makeup remover if i'm wearing makeup
neutrogena salicylic acid cleanser
mario badescu hyaluronic acid eye cream
cetaphil moisturiser
hydrocollodial bandages if i have active acne/if i remember

i've been using an innisfree hyaluronic acid sheet mask once a week or so but i think i'm slightly sensitive to them/reacting

i also just bought a The Ordinary retinol 2% and squalene serum which i've used for the first time tonight so i skipped the salicylic acid cleanser and used an acid free green tea cleanser (innisfree) instead

what do youse do for skincare? feel free to pose me any questions too, i'm no derm by any stretch of the imagination but i'm a big ol skincare nerd and might be able to help out

at night it’s hylamide cleanser, the ordinary acid or cosrx acid, then caudalie serum and cream or cosrx night cream. in the morning i don’t do shit but drink coffee and hate my life

just a nice lil touch that keeps the skin soft

i feel ya i find it so difficult to function in the morning (prolly hence why my morning routine is so simple) but apparently skin cell turnover happens moreso overnight so i've been trying to stick to it. it's hard though!

this is way more expenno than the ordinary but it's a sunscreen that doubles as a moisturiser and isn't pigmented whatsoever and doesn't sting yr eyes at all and smells really good

i wanna get some more but i couldn't justify the $$ last time i needed sunscreen

edit: i jsut found it for like $20 less on ebay lol whoops

i’ve been em obsessed with skincare lately but aside from being more moisturized, my skin is looking like shit. in addition to bad hormonal acne around jawline, mouth, and neck, i’m now getting lots of the tiny bumpy clogged pores.

AM:
face wipe to remove oil
alcohol free witch hazel toner
the ordinary hyaluronic acid
yes to grapefruit under eye cream
eucerin moisturizer with spf
whatever disappointing foundation i’m currently on

PM:
the face shop rice water cleansing oil to remove makeup
mizon snail foam cleanser (use a konjac sponge with this)
the ordinary glycolic acid toning solution
ordinary niacinamide and zinc
tonymoly avocado cream moisturizer

somebody please suggest some basic moisturizers that won’t clog pores or aggravate sensitive skin. both of mine suck but here i am, anyway.

i’ve also been trying dermaplaning for about a year and i’m wondering it this is just horribly not a good idea at all. you just dry-shave your face with these little eyebrow razors, which removes all the peach fuzz and dead skin. then i’ll follow up with glycolic acid toner and a sheet mask. it helps for a day or two after but then by the end of the week i end up with all these ingrown hairs/breakouts, yet i continue doing this. WHY AM I LIKE DIS

cool, i’m looking for simplicity here. i always confuse eucerin, cerave, and cetaphil with each other and don’t know which to choose, so any endorsement for a spefic brand or product is helpful.

did you introduce many of these products at once, or did you introduce them one at a time? how long have you been using the glycolic acid for?

fairly low-key routine here. spf 45 alba botanical moisturizer in the AM and acure night cream in the evening. use a basic eye makeup remover, plus French clay mask 1-2 times per month. occasionally get in there with an acure facial scrub in the shower, but rarely.

I took acutane as a teen and as such my face produces very little oil these days. I wash and scrub in the shower and use moisturizer twice a day and that's pretty much it. I use spf 50 sunscreen if/when I'm gonna be outside a lot (going on a hike, at the beach, etc).

I use Weleda Skin food most days, it's cheap enough to use frequently and high quality.

Aesop mandarin facial hydrating cream when I'm hungover. I probably won't buy this again despite it being excellent, just a little bit too expensive.

i started using these wipes at the end of the night. they're by up&up which looks it might be a cvs brand. they're called "oil-free cleansing wipes" and they even claim to be grapefruit-scented. they work really well

i gotta do research on the chapped lips (and really should, because they are the bane of my existence and i havent yet found a holy grail fix)

dry hands- maybe try something with shea butter in it? i used to have really awful contact dermatitis from bartending and shea butter hand cream was the thing that helped the most

what's yr new trick?

i used to get awful shaving rash/ingrowns- hot compresses and physical exfoliation helped, as did benzoyl peroxide, but then i got a bunch of laser hair removal treatments and i still grow hair but it's much thinner and i no longer get any irritation issues

quick pointer for this thread: if you wanna try to avoid signs of aging (wrinkles, hyperpigmentation etc), you should be wearing sunscreen every single day regardless of the weather

i hate most sunscreens so this took me a long time to get into but i'm finally kinda getting good at sticking to it

AM:
Drunk elephant face wash
(formerly a toner but I've run out)
Differin gel
Drunk Elephant moisturizer
Glossier SPF
PM:
Eye makeup remover (it's the only makeup i use)
Drunk Elephant face wash
Drunk Elephant serum
Moisturizer

Differin made me break out like mad for over a month, skin looked great for two months, and now I'm breaking out again. I don't know if I should stick with it or try something else.

Yeah, I realize I should be, especially with how intense the sun is here in Colorado, but I hate how it feels/looks on my skin. I need to find a lighter sunscreen that I can use every day.

Port, I use a Drunk Elephant product in my skin routine.
I'm too embarrassed to go into detail about my routine, because I'm embarrassed about my skincare vice.

theta wrote:i think everyone swears by cerave

I asked somewhere online about gentle cleansers that have no oil, and leave combination skin soft, and so many people recommended some form of Cerave. If they ever stop making the cleaner I use now, I'll check our Cerave first.

About a month-6weeks is generally how long a retinoid will make you purge/break out for, have you added anything new into your routine after starting the differin?
