can we admit that indie rock was never very good

Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes
Run to your mansions
Come around
We'll kick your ass in

a girl invited me to this bands show a few weeks ago. i declined cos i never have heard of them. probably never will

After listening to it, I texted my All Songs Considered co-host Robin Hilton the following: "good lord this Typhoon album is brilliant ... haven't cried listening to a record since [Sufjan Stevens'] Carrie And Lowell."

this is... not great.

and here was all ready to click on that YouTube

now... i dunno

wound up burnt out and sour on it for a wee while longer

now i'm going to listen to the pre-distressed bray of Unwound all morn and have a blast, i'm very to each their own about this stuff now and can't imagine ragging on music for an entire thread (the discursive and delirious unboxing of a phenom, like in the hoot thread, is different)

This is about right. But we here at Hipinion pride ourselves on judging everything and everyone and that ain't ever gonna stop. Also the hoot thread makes me feel far worse than this thread.

I'm sorry you don't like the hoot thread antoine, i just feel like it's one of those ones that brings out the best in everybody

Kenny wrote:The only dubstep I ever liked by Benga Ft. Coki's Night. What's some good dubstep like that

This is a tough one, tbh; that song's kind of singular. All of Benga's other bangers are much more uptempo and hyper, and his more downtempo stuff is usually on the darker side, but I'm not super familiar with his catalog so maybe there's some stuff I've missed.
I think the rubbery bassline in this song evokes some of Night's funkiness:

Then here's a sort of overlooked track that has a great swing to it and a sort of chill, nighttime feel you might like:

Idk though, you might be better off looking into UK Funky for similar sounds, but idk much about that stuff.

Mego, I can't get enough of Autechre's more straightforward techno tracks like their Surgeon or Mark Broom remixes. Can you rec me any more tracks like those?

I remember riding hard for the Lowenstein songs on Bakesale.
Might have just been contrarian response to my favorite band "blowing up"
