The mass shooting discussed on today’s TrueAnon is absolutely nuts and I can’t believe it happened 2 months ago and I didn’t hear anything about it until today. I assume it was big news in Canada.

another great ep. cant believe I'm learning more about current events from the anti-pedophile podcast than the lamestream media.

what other podcasts do you all listen to? I like left adjacent stuff (chapo/trueanon) or really stupid and annoying ones (red scare/pod save america) just to mix it up
Do you think anyone but the most pretentious aristocrats could have felt that way before we trapped music in vinyl? I doubt it.

Trillbillies is probably my favorite political adjacent one these days

Doug Henwood still gets/does really good interviews

trillbillies have been on a roll lately.

the dig is probably the best for broad ranging, in depth interviews.

belabored is the best for on the ground movement/labor reporting.

district sentinel is still wonderful, but it's entirely behind a paywall now, although they're releasing their weekly means morning news thing as a podcast now and those have also been really good.

season of the bitch is also highly underrated and doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves.

not a podcast, but i've been enjoying livposting's twitch stream as kind of a "here's what happened in the left media sphere" catchup type thing and her weekly bookclubs are a neat idea.

Yeah i finally started really regularly listening to Trillbillies in the last couple of months and they are probably my favorite right now.

Both Chapo and Citations Needed hit a note that just bugs me lately. I also genuinely like learning about Kentucky so much that I donated to Booker lol.

the dig is great but i really have to make myself up listen to daniel denvir's radio voice :(

i also like season of the bitch ! they manage to cover things that don't overlap super hard with a lot of my other pods.

now im wondering how many pods i have in common with the board.

Is it me or was there some weird tension going on with Virgil in the newest beltway garage ep? Feels like Virgil's kinda doing this podcast at gunpoint at this point. Maybe I'm wrong.

i like when virgil is there to cut through matt's rants a little bit without also taking himself too seriously. he is one of the few that gets to call matt out for not staying grounded in current facts.

yeah, they have really great topic selection and i feel like they're maybe the best "intro to leftist discussion on *insert topic*" podcast that exists while also still being really engaging for seasoned leftists, which is a really hard thing to accomplish.

There was a tweet from a Warren staffer complete with the green av about how Bernie isn't the end all of progressivism (fair enough) and that Bernie supporters erase a lot of progressive work from POCs. What irritated people is that she proudly has Claire McCaskill listed as her former boss. Felix tweeted something to the effect of "You worked for Claire McCaskill, stop lecturing people, you wouldn't be a Democrat if you weren't born in 1995."

I think Felix regrets saying anything since people do act stupid about stuff they quote tweet, but I can certainly understand finding a McCaskill staffer lecturing people about progressivism irritating. Jentleson swooping in to claim a dumb podcast is more harmful than a bad Senator is fucking hilarious though.

This episode was good but the lag during the interview was insane. It sounded like they were all talking over themselves. I kept thinking this proved that Canadians are the politest people alive since he never seemed to be angry that Brace would talk over all his sentences.

Exacerbating anxiety: Podcasts, publicness, and the problem of the dirtbag left

By mimicking the structure of language, this podcast creates conditions of possibility for the production of a specific public.

The one about Oz with Matt was great, the one with Will was enjoyable because they ended up talking about Justified for 20 minutes, and yeah I find the ones with his sister pretty balm

I liked hearing about how ridiculous council of dads and this is us are as someone who was vaguely aware of their existence but would never watch them. The episodes themselves aren't terribly great tho.
