man i actually really dig TFA and TLJ and i'm worried this new one is gonna sour me on the whole thing

there's no way the group of familiar faces doesn't include some bullshit like ewan obi-wan or hayden right?

also i'm having a real hard time imagining how they do force ghost leia lightsaber fighting and it doesn't look awful. even like The Irishman looks pretty bad to me, and they have the original actors' performances to go off of.

Ewan's officially back for the Disney+ series, so I wouldn't be shocked if he pops up.

As for Leia, it's sounding more and more like they went ahead and did a lot of body-double work with Billie Lourde after all, rather than just using a shot or two from TFA outtakes.

I was well into my thirties before I learned that Vonda McIntyre was a Hugo and Nebula winner and maybe the biggest get for Bantam and Lucasfilm when she signed on to do a book, and it's kinda made me want to revisit Crystal Star to see if there's any chance it's a better book than the fans gave it credit for.

yeah I'm real lukewarm on this now but that's cool. though i'm also torn cause i really kinda wish they would lean less into the OT references/characters

Yeah, but Old Man Wedge in a vintage T-65 saving Poe's ass in a dogfightToggle Spoiler is the kind of reference that doesn't bug me.

(I don't know if that actually happens.)

It damn well better happen.

Of course JJ couldn't leave well enough alone using b-reel footage of Leia from TFA. It was inevitable.

TLJ: Could Star Wars Be About Something Else

It's dumb as all hell but I would get very emotional over hearing "Rogue Leader" in a Star Wars movie again.Toggle Spoiler

Not officially -- I think JJ may have said something about it in passing in an interview at one of the cons, though.

MSW's trailer description makes it sound like they're putting him front and center in the previews.

Also, now that it seems like the rumor about Palpatine hopping into one of the Knights of Ren has fallen by the wayside, I'm wondering if Matt Smith is simply going to be the de-aged Palpatine in the final act.Toggle Spoiler

that plot summary is so, so bad.

there's a small handful of moments where it seems like it's on the verge of doing something interesting, but each time it instantly gets walked back and turns into "HEY REMEMBER WHEN THIS HAPPENED IN THE OTHER MOVIES? EAT IT UP YOU DUMB PIGS"
