Id watch the shit out of a Rosencranz and Gildensterning of the parents from It Follows, just like bleak kitchensink miserablism with no attempts at horror

to me it feels like mitchell watched the long goodbye, got horny watching those scenes, and made a movie where his detective gets to fuck one of them -- sweet.

I get that pov but the topless women in The Long Goodbye seemed like they were meant to be leered at by the intended audience cause they seem silly and unnecessary, kind of just tiddies for the sake of it. but fwiw I think neo noir is a really cursed genre for gender politics and to me, this movie was less offensive in depicting females than Inherent Vice was.

this is perhaps the dumbest hipinion yet

for those who like It Follows and The Guest, do you like this movie Bellflower too?

oh man, the bellflower

I watched that at a hotel on a work trip. it wasn't very memorable. kind of like, "an ok indie movie." there are a lot of those.

what we need is a gritty reboot where it just fucks off and lives off the grid for a while. maybe learns how to whittle.

regardless of our petty differences, what really counts is that we all agree that under the silver lake is a try hard awful movie that objectifies women :)

It Follows is amazing on so many levels.

this is shit on even more levels.

this had some amazing little stylistic choices i liked but beyond that wasn't at all redeemable.

Big co-sign. I was feeling a lot of the above, a little Long Goodbye and the Pynchon of Lot 49 and/or Vineland. I think I loved a lot of this.

this putative "Los Angeles movie" gives more lines to a Vanderpump Rules castoff than any non-white person

Isn't it kinda more about Hollywood/the underbelly of "the dream machine" or whatever than it is about LA or Silver Lake?

it's all about that, only reasons people call it an LA movie is cause it's in LA and cause they're stupid, what the fuck is an LA movie even supposed to be
