it is interesting to me that this is like a minorly p4k-tipped artist whereas in the past they've would've built the brand around a sound/band like this

i do think hatchie is novel in basically for the most part being like lemonheads style bouncy power-pop but with incidental guitar pedal shoegaze texture crust on top, as opposed to the more vague thick brush stroke-y style of melodies found in a lot of other bands working with those sounds like wild nothing or diiv etc etc. she's so much more direct and with clarity of purpose than any of those bands

We went through a whole era of dreampop in the early 2010s but all of those artists were too busy looking cool for advertising execs to think about doing an homage to the Cranberries. What Hatchie is doing is long overdue and you can say whatever you want about her but she seems to be the only fucking person who realized that an entire generation of people are yearning for some redo of the Cranberries and she was the one to finally do it and it's as perfect as that can be.
Never knowingly eaten an ass.

secret is a great track. The singles definitely stand out but I'm enjoying this. Some of this screams summer heartbreak to me. Idk why

Really liking these singles, but the production is maybe too clean. Reminds me a bit of some of the production choices made by mid-aughts nugaze bands like the Daysleepers and latter-day Airiel that seemed to be aiming for more of a mass appeal and sacrificed some of the idiosyncrasies that, in Airiel's case, made their early material sound so much better

tbh i don’t think the songs on here are as sticky as ones on the ep, and i agree the singles that we all heard before are clearly the strongest, which is mildly disappointing. don’t think this is going to be her break through even if it’s solid front to back

My mind kept replacing "Hatchie" with "Chappie". Glad I clicked and listened!
