bear in mind by the time it gets to you (at least by conventional methods) like 25 people have been involved with it in some way or another, and most of them would like to eat

There's an APC outlet nearby, i buy most of my clothes there. Shirts will still cost 100 €/$ but they're well designed in good fabrics, and are made in Europe, so overall it feels quite nice to wear quality stuff that wasn't made by slaves in a factory that's going to collapse anytime

9 times out of 10 "made in EU" or "made in Europe" means "made in whatever region of Romania currently has the most rapaciously toothless labor regulations and banking on you to think of some quaint artisan workshop in France or Italy or whatever instead"

also APC is made all over the damn place, seems like half of even their non-outlet stuff is made in China or Vietnam.

oh my godd my clothes from zam barrett finally arrived, they took three weeks to ship even though i'm like two miles from his shop lol but so worth it. the fit is absolutely perfect on both items and feels contoured to my body unlike most baggy junk sold as slim, i loved it so much so that I actually emailed him to thank him for the sick stuff after I tried it on lol. i'll post pictures later

Yeah usually they're made in Tunisia, Romania, Bulgaria and Portugal, which for sure aren't Finland in terms of social security / security norms, but it's not Bangladesh either. And i believe that a worker from these factories earn enough to make a decent living. I think i've once met a person who does production for APC, i'll ask her more info if i see her again.

honestly if you haven't either lived a very unusual life that puts you close to Enthusiast Money (rich ppl who r nerds) or very specific artisan manufacturing and you haven't spent an absolute fuckload of time around vintage clothing (pre-1990, esp pre-1970) there'd realistically be very little way for a person nowadays to even have a sense of The Real Thing, Baby

Thanks! :D

Yeah I skipped the jacket because there's a 90% chance I'll be moving to Los Angeles in December, so I'm steering clear of jackets and coats for the time being. I made a Pros and Cons list when making the decision to move home to the west coast, and one huge factor that made me so resistant to moving away from NYC was that I can't wear as many cool clothes :( I mean I grew up and spent the first 23 years of my life in LA and I know it has its own fashion, I'm just going to miss layering and heavy coats, etc

I'm looking for shoes for my wedding next month. I bought a pair of Aldens but ended up returning them because spending $700.00 on shoes is fucking stupid and I'm an idiot. I ordered another pair from 3DM and returned them because they were hella narrow. Does anyone know where I can get a good pair of cap toe oxfords for less than $300.00?

Where's it happening? At an art museum in Cincinnati.

you ever tried walking around pronouncing "cincinnati" like it's an italian word at people and seeing if the sort of outsidery glow it gives you is useful?

i'd predict a dismal resurgence of the square toe but I think reality being the misery overachiever it is the shit we'll be stepping in is more likely to be undertaken in the sort of Permanent Ortho-Skecher that would have me begging for Donald J. Pliner patent leather tissue boxes

I’d be careful with meermin for 2 reasons:

1. They ship from Spain and need to go through customs this could delay them past the wedding

2. They are INCREDIBLY stiff out of the box. I have multiple pairs and they all took FOREVER to break in. Especially because of #1, I’d caution you to not wear these the first time on a day where you’ll be on your feet/dancing for long periods of time.

Other than that they’re beautiful and I love mine. Incredible value.
