it's gonna take a big upset somewhere

maybe Bullock taking out Daines in Montana or fielding a star candidate to beat Perdue in Georgia

there's lots of better paths to "the last seat" than 2018 had, I don't think on paper you'd look at GA or NC or IA or MT or even AK/SC and say that "this is harder than winning one of TX/TN/ND"

they could just be coy, no one wants to step on their future announcement, but I will be surprised if Bullock takes on Daines because it will be a hard race. Daines is popular enough, at least compared to the folks Tester has dispatched, and getting a split ticket in a pres year seems increasingly difficult. the bigger sign that he's more focused on national than local viability is staking out a position in favor of an assault weapons ban... I don't think that's an I'm-running-for-Montana-Senate thing to do. he'll probably run in the national primary hoping that he gets in a favorable impression and gets consideration as a ticket-rounder-outer for a coastal liberal.

Montana doesn't seem that far from going Blue for president especially with population growth in Bozeman and their high levels of voter participation

Daines vs Bullock would definitely be a barn-burner though

MT is pretty weird and swingy but thinking it's on the edge of going blue for pres seems optimistic

i'd expect 2024 to be very, very close assuming there are no Mormons on the ballot

NJ.com let me know this morning that Cory Booker is NOT gay and running
Tone sincere also I would never troll or purposefully be antagonistic or anything on something serious.

This feels extremely thinly reported to me, but everybody's either cheering or up in arms about it.

Jeffries is my rep and I volunteered for AOC's primary so I feel like I'm uniquely qualified to say: as much as I think we could do better than Jeffries, this would in all likelihood be a waste of resources (relative to the amount of infighting it will cause). Jeffries is not Crowley, he's nowhere near as out of touch with the district as Crowley was.

That said... I do think it's good to continue pressuring Jeffries, and a strong primary could help him stop voting for corporate friendly stuff, sign onto a Green New Deal etc. So whatever, go for it. The Democrats who are naturally inclined to dislike/distrust AOC already do so, and the campaign Crowley waged to make sure that Jeffries got the caucus chair job over Barbara Lee was extremely bad and I don't blame anyone around her for feeling like they want revenge for it.

I don't have any special insider knowledge on this, but like I said I think it's thinly reported and would be surprised if they'd actually already identified somebody to run against Jeffries.

i wouldn't be surprised if there's some real personal animus between ocasio and jeffries. iirc, he was quite vocally whining after her primary win.

The Crowley/Jeffries/Lee thing was so gross that it's hard for me to have anything but disgust for him

Yeah, and the role Crowley played in ensuring Jeffries got the caucus chair job over Barbara Lee...

(Which is to say, to all the anti-Bernie/anti-left Dems who are going to get mad at AOC for "making this personal" - Crowley/Jeffries made it personal in the first place)
