"i'm the man" rules but i don't like the lyric disparaging skateboards.

it would be cool if there was a joe jackson resurgence. he seems to be a pretty mysterious dude. he kinda reminds me of paddy mcaloon for some reason

it is indeed a classic. shit is really underrated too. he was a good punk/new wave guy before doing the stuff people remember him for (which is also good but)

Badfinger are underrated or overlooked or something

like they get regular play on oldies stations but I think they should receive the same reverence Big Star do in regard to power pop that is also sorta sad and broken inside

plus they had some great 70's rock faces

not quite Motors level great, but pretty great

Joe Jackson also has a great face

yeah. actually this thread is funny, because i think joe jackson deserves the same kind of credit for his punk/new wave period. which doesn't get any shine on those (gasp) p4k lists.

Elvis Costello > Nick Lowe > Joe Jackson > Graham Parker > Ian Gomm

but I love all those dudes. what did the press call them back in the day? 'angry young men' or something..

pub rocky new wavey music is so good

Dave Edmunds is good too but he's more of a rock n roll traditionalist

his live performances during the "angry young man" period are so good too. legit makes me want to be there. (i guess this era in general)

Speaking of Badfinger, here's a really depressing article about the early 80s incarnation of Badfinger was trapped in Milwaukee for a couple of months.

I swear I thought Joe Jackson's early records were also on Stiff, but Google tells me that's not so. I'd put his first two up against Elvis Costello's first two any day.

just realized why "hold on" sounds so much like a lost Nick Lowe song, cause they were in a band together, durr.

i don't know why exactly but i get king krule vibes from him for some reason (definitely the vocals sometimes and the english street-guy thing) though i don't think kk has ever cited him as an influence
