My 10 year old daughter watched this for the first time last night with me. She loved it. Interestingly, she knew who all the Spider-people were (except Peni) cause they were all unlockables in the newer Marvel Lego game.

I really appreciated that at the end, Gwen and Miles stayed friends and the movie didn't turn them into a couple.

Yeah, this was such a relief.

I'm also glad that they didn't make anything out of an adult Peter encountering a teenage Gwen.

Yeah, they had a BRIEF line about her like "trust me i know how it feels" to Peter, when he sees new-MJ and is all weird about it, so I imagine that feeling is similarly there for her, and they could have gone into it in a cool way, but that one line is enough probably.

this is my favorite movie since fury road. lot of similarities there too, out of nowhere blockbuster so full of invention and passion and a masterful grasp of narrative propulsion, i don't think either movie has a dull scene. they're also both extremely funny when they want to be.

You're correct. Diner was Peter scarfing down the burgers and talking about baby powder in the suit. Subway talk never happened at all.

Not exactly; it sounds more like an enhanced commentary-and-BTS mode:

Watched this again for the first time since theatrical release. Has to be one of the best-paced films I've ever watched, and particularly with respect to superhero films, which tend to get pretty draggy in the 2nd half. Honestly would have guessed 90 minutes if I had to estimate it, and felt like it could have been longer.

And I will always laugh at the post-credits scene.

SPLina has Heelies, so nice catch on Peni, only solidified how much she likes the movie.

A great sign when I can't decide which of the alt-Spideys I enjoy the most.

oh BTW, sorry if this was already discussed earlier in the thread.

Is there some significance to the number 42? IIRC the spider had 42 on its body, and there was some point in the film, I think where Miles fell, and the numbers 4 and 2 were on either sides of his body.

Edit: Ah, apparently it's a nod to Jackie Robinson's jersey number. Not Douglas Adams.

Now I'm not sure. Also was the lottery ball for Miles to get into the academy in the comics.
