oh my god elvis guesthouse was a total mess. i played with a band there once and it was just completely bizarre
i haven't hated any venues i've seen shows in in a long time but venues i hated playing:
"pianos" in NYC - who are you people who go to "pianos"?? like what are your jobs "union pool" in NYC - some drunk guy who worked there made me cry after i played a show once and then i did this insanely dumb tour once where we played a bunch of breweries and big beer bros just stood and glowered until they got off the stage so they could watch their pals doing like bob seger covers or whatever the fuck
On Hipinion, posters taxed their bonds and brotherhood, pushing themselves to the brink as a board and as buds.
i saw four tet dj for six hours at analog bk or whatever it was called and it was pretty dumb. water was like $7 and the sound was ear-splitting and the crowd were all coked up assholes and they wouldn't let me leave to get my red bull out of the car so i fell asleep at like 3:30 AM on a couch in the back of the club and the bouncer came over and shined a flashlight in my eyes

the only context where Subt has been fine for me was for shows that didn't sell very well. anything close to sellout and it's a nightmare. admittedly I got to Chicago in 2010 so I have less of a connection to wicker park as it was
Kenny wrote:KOKO in London. The bar is at the back of the whole venue but on the floor so to get a beer you're basically dooming yourself to have to wade in and out. This bothers me more than elsewhere because the venue was a (small) play house theater so you have to go under the seats above and there are big posts so you can't see anything and you can't get back in easily. Plus the sound sucks and everythign has been blown out that I've seen there.
yeah not good. I hate Jazz Cafe too, its so quiet unless you're at the front. I saw Shackleton there and he was gesturing to fix the levels and it wouldn't happen. dumb idea to see a club act there I guess in the first place
yeah the echoplex is awful. i remember during joanna newsom there in like 2005 the PA was picking up a banda station
i have a strange affinity for the echo itself because usually the price is right for a ticket and i've seen some good shows there somehow but objectively it's also really bad acoustically etc. - it's especially bad when they're having a dance event in the plex downstairs during a show and the bass thuds up through the floor
