maybe in 2019 we should all get into musical theater?

lol idk! there's the classic rodgers and hammerstein stuff (oklahoma, the sound of music, south pacific), the gershwin musicals, west side story (bernstein and sondheim) sondheim, which tbh i am not huge into... then the newer era which can be v rock oriented, like rent and next to normal or spring awakening. these i am not super familiar with tho. also there is andrew lloyd webber who did cats, phantom of the opera and jesus christ superstar.

JCS has the sickest song of all time lol

i am a total not expert though that's the truth

yesssssssssssssssssss

watching musical theatre is.. mostly boring unless you're going to broadway or watching JCS/Les Mis/the greats.

but BEING in musicals is super fun and I would recommend trying it if you ever get the offer.

i had an idea for a musical called "Pizza! the musical". it's about a group of people who order pizza together and the whole process of deciding what to get, waiting for the pizza, the pizza getting made/delivered, eating the pizza, and looking back on the pizza they just ate. basically the full lifecycle of a pizza party.

saw Hadestown last night on Broadway. really enjoyed it. I'd suggest checking out the Spotify version even if you're not "a musicals person"

the music is indie folk/Americana from a concept album from 2010. some jazz, some tex-mex maybe, some all around pretty good late 2000s indie vibes

bon Iver was on the concept album originally, and there's a cast version from the London production
