funny you should ask that, because if you go back a page or two you can find multiple instances of people who care if someone liked a tweet

just to keep the party train rolling: i repeatedly advocated for him not to be banned and, for what it's worth, i also deeply dislike pile-ons, including but not limited to this one; but as has been discussed to death in a half-dozen threads he took money to interview a man whose prominence has literally made my life materially worse for a major publication and then justified his decision in terms of that publication's "ideological neutrality." it's tedious to devote pages to it, and i don't think we should because whatever, but i'm not exactly broken up when this happens

is it a dogpile if murray st knows exactly what type of reaction his posts will have?

like is he sitting at home, head in his hands, frustrated that hipinion just isnt empathizing more with the plight of the american journo in trumpland?

edit: i think it is when a screencap with his name is posted, and forgot that's what started this. but still

not speaking about murray st personally here and your point is well-taken and something i am trying to be more mindful of, gogs, but i think that take/even the remote idea that AOC is like trump in any way can really only come from journalists who get upset when The System of Access Politics and The Way Things Are Done is ignored, which to me speaks of a very cynical, inside-baseball view of real-life events and actions that have direct consequences.

sure but that idea that a like is a blind endorsement of something just seems naive to me. and again, not defending murray's like/opinions/etc-- more so the way it manifests in threads.

he is a journalist, he's gonna be defensive of media while also being capable of maintaining criticisms of it i would imagine. the dunk/pile on escalation just seems petty and opportunistic.

given what he has posted on this board--and i grant you fully that i do not know him on a personal level, and can only come to conclusions based on his posts about media, of which there are many--i have no reason to believe that he disagrees with hotline josh's dumb take, nor have i seen anything that indicates he is capable of maintaining and sort of sincere criticism of journalistic media.

The film tells the story of the failure of Operation Market Garden during World War II. The operation was intended to allow the Allies to break through German lines and seize several bridges in the occupied Netherlands, including one at Arnhem, with the main objective of outflanking German defences in order to end the war by Christmas of 1944.

The name for the film comes from an unconfirmed comment attributed to British Lieutenant-General Frederick Browning, deputy commander of the First Allied Airborne Army, who told Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, the operation's architect, before the operation: "I think we may be going a bridge too far",[6] in reference to the intention of seizing the Arnhem bridgehead over the Rhine river.

the original saying is "a bridge too far over the river kwai." it's a reference to a bridge that's too far away to walk to

you would want to walk around in a special scuba diving suit? or is the second part of your post unrelated to the first part? asking for clarification's sake

my thinking is this:

(a) the river kwai is in thailand
(b) i am in the united states
(c) there is a lot of water in between the two
(d) to walk there i would have to cross the water
(e) but i can't walk on water
(f) so i'd have to walk under the water
(g) i can't breathe underwater
(h) so i'd have to find a way to breathe underwater
(i) like a scuba suit
(j) but a normal scuba suit probably wouldn't work
(k) so i need a special scuba diving suit

hope this helps
