I know I've reached middle-age because I find the sound of a dishwasher really soothing.

more than a year ago, I realized my 9yo and 13yo sons needed to have their own rooms, but the third bedroom was a mold-damaged atrocity full of all my and my ex-wife's junk. it took more than a year, about $15k total, a dozen trips to the city dump, a dozen arguments with my ex-wife about what I was throwing away, and so many weekends of work. but last weekend, huckle slept in his new very own room for the first time and he was so pleased and I was too. finally they have the privacy to jerk off to their hearts content

kinda feel like I can take 2019 off from parenting now

Man the entryway to the house was overflowing with shoes for years, so bad you could barely make it through. One day a couple weeks ago I took every single shoe out, sorted them between me, the kid, and the wife, and donated or threw away everything that didn't fit or didn't want. Ended up getting rid of probably 3 dozen pairs of shoes and finally got the damn entryway under control.

Reattached a roller blind and fixed a drawer coming off its hinges last weekend. Renting sucks in part because you don’t get a lot of opportunity to be handy around stuff that isn’t yours, but I get satisfaction when I break things around here by being clumsy and can repair them good enough to keep my bond.

I’ve fucked my way into this and I’ll fuck my way out!

We have a dishwasher but I’ll usually just hand wash the plate or whatever right after I use it

i don't know why this particular triumph felt especially good, but when i was hanging shelves in my basement closet i put a hole in a radiator pipe. after the hvac guy fixed it, he took off leaving me a ragged hole in my wall. i cut a piece of sheetrock with an utility knife, patched it, painted it, now i can't even tell where it was.

I've cooked at least one new recipe every day for like the past 8 days, and so I've added like a week's worth of mostly vegetarian dishes to my rotation. (Plus a couple of extremely unhealthy but mega-tasty things from the Beastie Boys book.)

Caught 3 mice in the past week

Unscrewed all the ductwork vents and went around with the expanding foam and filled in every last crack between the floorboards and behind the walls

This post rules and makes up for the heinous anti-dishwasher sentiment elsewhere in the thread.

I do 99% of domestic stuff in the house so things that feel like actual triumphs are rare.

I guess I understand a dishwasher for a family of four but as someone who lives alone I usually just use it as an oversized drying rack.
