I saw The Spanish Prisoner when it came out. There was a guy in the theater who laughed loudly whenever there was a new twist. Just really enjoying himself.

I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a movie title as Johnny Skidmark.

My girlfriend and I have a new Valentine's night tradition where we set up the projector and watch some steamy/lurid thriller and get wine drunk. On my walk home tonight I was actually wondering what we should watch this year, so I'm glad this thread is floating around. Anyway, last year we watched this very enjoyable piece of garbage starring James Spader and Shelly from Twin Peaks.

Kev, I strongly urge you to go to Unlawful Entry if you want a lurid Hollywood product from the 1990's.

Ray Liotta continues to get work to this day, but I still feel he never lived up to the early promise of terrific perfs in films like Something Wild and Goodfellas.

And reading this post now given the overall tone of this thread I feel it is necessary to point out I was being sincere in pointing out how fucking good he was here and how his career since has been spent working beneath what he's capable of.

The Last Seduction has already been posted, but it is such a great '90s noir that it needs reposting. Bill Pullman plays a very convincing menacing piece of shit husband. Linda Fiorentino is all around great as the femme fatale. Highly recommended.

By page 7 I feel most things have been posted, but:

Feels like you can just throw a dart at the filmographies of Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis, Michael Douglas, and Morgan Freeman for this.

The related category 'almost entirely forgotten 90s semi-indie thrillers' is also ripe for the picking:

((Stuffed is loved by old and young because this is where the puddings get sent in. Criss-cross paving and those tinkly hanging bells make ((Stuffed a very homely access to Hades. Full marks.

I never saw Mercury Rising, but this bit from Ebert's pan of the film always stuck with me:

But what happened to Alec Baldwin's BS detector? Better replace those batteries! His character utters speeches that are laughable in any context, especially this one. "You know,'' he says, "my wife says my people skills are like my cooking skills--quick and tasteless.''

I saw this the day it opened and the decision to add fapping sounds to the scene where Vaughn spies on Heche the shower had the audience in stitches
