let's argue over what's the last legit great rock album

Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes
Run to your mansions
Come around
We'll kick your ass in

“Mainstream” is probably a more interesting conversation because there are lots of great rock albums

i’d suppose this being true really depends on one’s personal generosity with the word “great”

Agree but I’m not sure where to start unpacking

I think stage Strokes might be the best pick so far in that regard

The closest a rock album has come to matching this 1996 release is...In Spades by the Afghan Whigs, released in 2017

If you're referring to Royal Headache then no. They split up.

There's been discussion in this thread as to what counts as "rock". As far as I'm concerned, it's a you know it when you hear it thing. And I love Blackstar, but I don't consider it a rock album.

That said, anyone who considers Blackstar to be rock and roll, that is your right.

Keep It Like a Secret comes to mind, but that’s 20 years old. Man, remember The Moon and Antarctica? Maybe I should revisit it. Why did that band not age well?

At some point between moon and Antarctica and good news brock seemed to lose the ability to sing like he could and the band seemed to shift to accommodate and adjust in terms of sound to more flaming lips carny banjo music
