i'm trying to figure out why i don't identify with the premise of this thread
payday only seems to matter to me if the rent is due or the power company or isp is about to disconnect me
there's no correlation to excess spending or even a treat myself vibe that i get. i don't budget. but i will splurge if i want to though it's not related at all to payday or even my account balance.
i don't have direct deposit so i walk my check to the bank during my lunch break. have i broken free from the system?

a couple months ago a side-hustle employer of mine was not super forthcoming with their hourly wage structure and they totally blindsided me when the paycheck was ~100$ less than i thought it would be
i took it in stride even though i really needed that extra 100$.
BUT that feeling is basically the same feeling i have felt every time i have ever looked at the direct deposit that just landed in my account or the check that was mailed to me

I never said anything about partying, unless you consider a muffin partying. I actually get a big thrill from throwing a chunk in savings. That's "splashing cash" for me.
