Burial - Rival Dealer
Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden Of Delete
Arca - Mutant

Kanye West - Yeezus

not the most original list, i realize
i like that so many people are putting tirzah on it, that album's really special

drunk and stoned stream of conscious post

I've shamefully never listened to blonde beyond the weeks after it came out but saw how it was #1 on so many people's lists. so I put it on with a good buzz and my attention and then after a couple tracks was going to make a sincere post asking, why is this so beloved in a decade that had burial, grouper, dangelo and joanna. but it was grabbing me more and more and then at self control, I totally fell in love with it and every track since has been a revelation. I'm now on close to you and I can't wait to take a headphones walk tonight listening to this from the beginning

but I'd still dig hearing why people connect to blonde so much. I feel like I could write a thousand words about my relationship with rival dealer or ruins. say something about the picks you put at the top

This isn't one of those albums I ever put on because I wanted to sit there and enjoy it. It was more something that was playing in the background, or I was just too lazy to find something else to listen to so it sat in my car player for weeks. But I never got tired of it and it always seemed to fit my mood (particularly when commuting between bleak snowy towns). There are a couple great singles, but yeah mostly I put this so high because I listened to it 500 times and haven't gotten sick of it. Same with Lucero-All A Man Should Do (I put #7).

Feel pretty glum about the decade which I know is a product of getting old as hell and not its quality, but I can definitely say:

Grouper - Ruins
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
George Clanton - Slide
The Mountain Goats - Goths
Royal Headache - High
Run The Jewels II
The Gladeyes - Shadows Explode
OPN - Replica
Yves Tumor - Safe In The Hands Of Love
Women - Public Strain

This was very hard. i left off a lot of fav artists who released like 3-4 albums i loved but none stood out as a top 20, even if overall they are a top artist of the decade for me. and honestly there were about 10 albums vying for the last 4 spots and i just picked based on gut instinct.

1. Armand Hammer – Rome
2. Sleaford Mods- Divide and Exit
3. Total Control- Typical System
4. State Champion – Fantasy Error
5. Destroyer – Kaputt
6. Jake Xerxes Fussell – self-titled
7. my bloody valentine – mbv
8. Spectre Folk – Vol. 4
9. Kurt Vile –Smoke Ring for My Halo
10. Ty Segall Band- Slaughterhouse
11. David Nance - Negative Boogie
12. Milo - who told you to think??!!?!?!?!
13. Endless Boogie- Vibe Killer
14. Stephen Malkmus –Groove Denied
15. Bottomless Pit - Blood Under the Bridge
16. Jack Oblivion – Rat City
17. Weed –Deserve
18. Purling Hiss –Water on Mars
19. A Tribe Called Quest - we got it from here... thank you 4 your service
20. Thee Oh Sees – Warm Slime

these lists are always tough to me bc i dont know whether to rank w fidelity to my experience of them at the time they came out or to re-visit and rerank everything

when i worked on a farm i listened to good kid maad city 3x a day for a month and it totally changed my life but i haven't spent nearly enough time w tpab or damn so i'm not sure where it'd land now

same with contra + mvotc. i got into mvotc while living in new york city and owning extremely noise-cancelling headphones ( -- highly recommended lol) and it was an extremely special thing to ride on the subway listening to hannah hunt or w/e

but contra is also really special and might have a hair less filler

- I liked a lot of releases from actress, molly nilsson, tim hecker, andy stott, forest swords, and the bay area garage rock crew (ty/thee oh sees/mikal etc) but there's not really a release by any of them that's categorically better than the rest imo
- I only included three 2019 releases because it's difficult to determine how things will age this early
- I still listen to some hip hop, I swear! I just don't go back to a lot of it through the full album format. I've enjoyed a lot of material from danny brown, kendrick, vince staples, death grips, and yeezus was also a really good album, sorry.

idk i love many songs from channel orange but blonde is just an order of magnitude more confident and thrilling and new and complete to me
im also arbitrarily imposing a one release per artist rule i think

might make a list later

Although I listen heavily to stuff from drone/gentle/sound art threads i cant really think of any of that stuff i would put on a list. really weird. i think my list will just be rap + blonde/lemonade - dont think i have even listened to a guitar-based/indie record this decade. fuck it has gone fast.
