your teacher turned off 9/11 after 10 minutes? who let him do this?
I remember getting into an argument with my co-worker over how the internet had failed us that day. All the TV news were doing their thing and providing info, but all the news sites (at the time anyway, including cnn.com) were completely either giving 404 errors or weren't getting updated at all. It's weird to think that at that point in the internet, up-to-the-second updates wasn't a thing and being glued to the tv was where you had to be.
I don't think I'd read this Colson Whitehead essay in a couple of years, and I read it this morning and started crying. I guess that response transcends whatever feelings I have about this event, which I no longer see as something which happened in my lifetime, and probably gets to the heart of how I feel about this city I've loved and hated living in for 11 years.
Remember how every movie for 10 years after set in New York had someone shouting "I love New York!!!" in it

Wouldn't it be a lovely present to the country if Trump's heart, brain or anything gave out on him and he died of natural causes on this a day of mourning

875 mass shootings don’t change anything, but one asshole makes a malfunctioning shoe bomb 15 years ago and we are forced to juggle taking our shoes off while standing in line for eternity.
