I look at bluegrass music as this sort of glowing ball. The point is to relax the technique around the glowing ball of feeling.

This looks so bad and I really want to like it.

How did they think it would go if they made a shot for shot remake of something that is already a perfect expression? And if it’s not a remake like that, why are they only showing us side by side comparisons that highlight how impossible it is to make something as good as the original?

Real bad choices.

Ideally this would put to bed the false idea in fandoms that their favorite IPs just need modernized identical remakes to be good

It took me a second to realize that the official account was the one pushing these out. It's like they've realized this is their sole selling point.

it's so weird to have the attitude that animation is somehow a less valid medium and that stuff needs to be legitimized by being made brown and shitty looking.

feel like this is gonna be a watchmen (movie) situation where it's a hyper-faithful adaptation and not much else (while also possibly misunderstanding key elements of the original). still gonna watch it out of curiosity i guess.

i've also been rewatching the original recently for the first time since i was a teen, and i'm v relieved that it mostly holds up. though i think the bounty-of-the-week episodes where the bebop crew is working together to solve cases are generally more fun and interesting than the ones that focus on spike's backstory/vicious/julia/the syndicate, which can get kind of overwrought at times. (this is the opposite of how i felt when i originally watched the show)

yeah the last 2 eps didnt do as much for me as Ed's ending for that same reason

my wife got so frustrated watching this show cause she would be really upset that they would ALMOST get a bounty and then lose it, or they get the money but are somehow swindled out of it, etc lol

I was just told re: the first couple episodes “it’s fine”, but this is from a person who said the same thing about The Witcher so I dunno

Literal terabytes of miserable stuff on hand to watch alone this week, but I think this just beat them all.

I'm not sure it's that. like there are constant live action adaptations of anime in Japan. people are interested in seeing familiar things in different forms. and companies like to be able to have more of already-successful series.

The Development team made one crucial error. They entered into the game an automatic sentry gun called a "Puckle."
