that can't be ideal, right? if your home test relies on smartphone technology??

yeah, that's this one: Image

my 4 y/o was congested/runny nose/etc after his first week of VPK in august and he took one of those tests, which came back positive. went to get a PCR the same day and it was negative.

it's super easy to use and only requires one test (vs. 2 taken 36 hours apart) - but that day sucked for all of us.

My family had a false positive with this particular test as well and blew up our lives for about 48 hours. I'd avoid this one unless it's your only option.

My partner and I just tested positive. Sore throat, a cough, and a bodyaches.
Very cool to quarantine and have no income for awhile because we work service industry jobs.

All because I decided to go see a vax mandated concert outside to celebrate a new job

my fiance's mom is vaccinated and just tested positive. she's a school bus driver, and 20 of the kids sitting on her bus recently tested positive. she's doing okay, says it feels like a sinus infection and she can't smell anything.

My covid paranoia was, in all honesty, limited to like the first couple months of 2020 because during all this time I haven't had any friends or family members affected by it. This week, though, I've had multiple bad dreams of catching it, being forced into scenarios where I'm inevitably infected or even purposely infected.. very odd and it's making me wonder what is it about my current circumstances that's suddenly making my subconscious concerned about getting sick!

yeah, that she knows of right now, it's a rural area in the south. she has 50 kids on her bus because it's overcrowded. the breakouts are definitely happening in school districts across the country and i feel that they are being under reported.

I've said this before but I feel like opinion columnists could be replaced by publishing 7th grade essays and no one would be able to tell the difference.

And it really isn't even an opinion is it just a statement of an incredibly obvious fact.

I think there was a study that showed that 450ppm of co2 or whatever we’re headed to shortly can be linked to a 20% decline in cognitive function or something like that

so I get why Ross Douthat keeps getting published

So are we all numb to the grief at this point or is that just me? I mean I don't want to feel like I did all 2020 but, analytically, dead-inside might be more disturbing

yeah i mean, we're going to be getting near 1 year anniversary for the biggest wave of deaths and i'm not sure how people will cope with the remembrance of a death that for most of us couldn't be mourned in a traditional sense and often created hostility between family over getting together in person

im as appalled as ive ever been but on balance im definitely less terrified and more dead inside than i was a year and a half ago. i really perceive - for the first time in my life, i think - that we are on the cusp of an epoch of immense, wide-scale suffering. i expect more horrific surprises which will thaw my frozen guts out in a way i'm sure will be exceptionally painful and which i selfishly pray won't affect those i am close to; but i'm not really sure how to comport myself in the face of that expectation, except by trying to admit the horror of it all as fully as my circumstances permit, and to remind myself that people are resilient far in excess of what i have hitherto expected, for better and, in terms of the prospects of collective action, for worse. and to keep trying to get my own life in order and keep figuring out how to slot in to the movements i really really hope are here and/or coming

My dad told me him and his gf drove by some vaccine protestors outside of a hospital the other day and she broke down crying and rolled down the window and started yelling at them about her mom dying
