i can't remember when Delta hit the scene and where

i only remember when it took over the US

but before Delta it seemed like there was a hyped new variant every other month: Brazil, South Africa, UK, California, etc

this is crazy. it appears super ancestral to the major circulating lineages and extremely mutated. the likeliest explanation there being that some individual had it in their body for many months without clearing it.
