Bored at home? Let's play Dungeons & Dragons on the internet. Since we're living in hell, this is going to be a survival horror-kinda delve.

1) Ten player characters;
2) If you die you die;
3) If there's still a PC left you choose one of those remaining; and
4) The game ends either when you reach the end or all PCs are dead.

To be more specific, we'll be running a modern take on an old-school dungeon that was written with the intent of teaching the art of the dungeon crawl to new players. It's brilliant and hazardous and extremely rewarding.

Choose your fighter/cleric/wizard/thief/dwarf/halfling/no elves, sorry:

The basic rules of this version of D&D are available free here. This edition is meant to be fast and simple, so don't worry if you have zero experience with D&D or other RPGs. You'll pick it up in like fifteen minutes and it'll be great. Hell yeah.

posting in here to support even tho i will likely not be able to take part. our pathfinder group is playing on with a roll20/zoom setup and it's almost preferable to real life. macros are a lifesaver.

You'll be fine! There's not much number-crunching to begin with, and roll20 takes care of most of it anyway.

PF's gotta be so much more enjoyable with macros. I'd probably keep those on hand even while playing at a table.

This adventure's illustrated by scrap princess, transfemme artist whose work is crude, menacing, and moody. Helps get the point across that this won't be 100% traditional fantasy.

i'm a bit interested if there's still room. i've never done an actual game of d&d, but i should be able to read up before.

about how long would the session last? are the characters pre-rolled or rolled at the start? is it the best to fill all 10 spots or do you usually go with fewer?

-Slots'll fill first come first serve.
-If we have a surplus I'll probably cap the active players at 6 and move someone new in when another dies.
-These are all pregenerated characters to make everything go as swiftly as possible. They have full character sheets in the roll20 room.
-This'll last proooobably two or three hours depending on how thorough and/or cunning y'all are.

And yeah check out that link up top but don't fret about knowing the rules well enough or whatever, D&D is learned by osmosis.

thanks! sounds like fun.

if roakey swerked is a cleric i'd be for that one. or i'd be open to anything really (i couldn't find their actual character sheets, but i think you said they'd become available closer to friday)

this roll20 tutorial is a little overwhelming but also incredible with what it's able to do/share

Can't do much until I give character permissions out, but at least you can get a lil familiar.

damn, this looks like fun. How did it go?
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

I would play if I didn't have to put the kid to bed tonight or if it was later. Hopefully another session!

thanks again for hosting. i enjoyed the dungeon/dm'ing you did.

roll20 took a little bit to get used to, but then it's just amazing with how streamlined it was.

This is going to be a regular thing now, and everyone's still welcome regardless of whether you've played before. Here's a little slice of what the PCs have mapped out so far:
