wait, you really think he has a chance at a gold glove?

I think he does, he's had a 2 dWAR swing over from last season and the White Sox have consistently been leading or near the top of the league in defensive runs saved at the 1B position all season (Abreu currently sitting at 6 DRS)

also, even tho it shouldn't, being a legit MVP candidate def strengthens your Gold Glove chances if you have a shot at one

Abreu's currently 6th in fWAR in the AL and he's 29th in DEF for first basemen

is Rendon having the quietest 2020 this season in baseball?

at least Trout will now have one other player helping him unsuccessfully carry an underachieving team on their back every year

Rickey and Vince were pretty much doing their thing in the same era but Rickey just did it much longer. Lofton and Ichiro are the more modern era players that I think of. I wouldn't say base stealing has played a prominent role in the game for a while though.

yeah i guess VC and Ricky were the same era. RH transcends time bc he played for so long and was tied to Lou Brock.

Since VC went from 109 to 81 from '87 to '88 the NL leaders were Marquis Grissom (MON) in '92 with and Jose Reyes (NYM) '07 with 78.

Rickey would've killed the shift dead in a week by taking the free steal of 3rd every time.
