Very fun that this is happening in the middle of a heat wave so people can't open their windows. Also very fun for this to cause sore throats in the middle of a pandemic.

just heard another friend’s home was consumed up on Last Chance. I got married on their property and spent a lot of my childhood playing in the woods around there.

I live right on the boarder of town between sc and Bonny Doon. I’ve been packing up what I can, but it’s hard to feel motivated to grab anything at all. feeling very detached. meanwhile my neighbors across the street had a bunch of kids over jumping on the trampoline while the mother was giving a haircut to someone. all unmasked, all under a steady rain of ash. apocalyptic reality denial is making me even more loopy.

Many friends have been evacuated and lost their homes. I watched the San Mateo/Santa Cruz County fire just grow exponentially over night on the NASA map and did not sleep at all. This is beyond devastating. CalFire pretty much said they don't have the resources for all these fires and everyone in the area should be ready to evacuate at any moment.

For those in the San Mateo Santa Cruz County areas this should be terrifying and depressing:

feeling really torn up about big basin. i've spent a lot of time there and castle rock. the skyline to sea trail was one of the most enduring, beautiful experiences of my life. this is so sad.

Buddy of mine works up there. Apparently they tried to fight it at first, wind picked and everything went to hell and they had to pretty much run for their lives. He thinks it's toast. Unreal.
