to date, i think this is the best grateful dead song i've heard so far. people are always playing deep cuts on my local radio station so i am never actively seeking out their music with my own time. heard this one for the first time today

the beginning guitars kinda sound like an elf roaming through a dusty forest. pretty tight

not to get all lvoey here but I've always been struck by the fact that the studio version of playin is one of the dead's most poppy songs and then when they play it live, it's so often a 15+ minute space noodle jam

usually i think songs about being in a band are kinda silly

but this one gets all serious when it's like "daybreak.. daybreak on the land!", you can picture like the skies tearing apart as you hear these sweet licks enter your ear

that's so trippy, man

Blues for Allah is my favorite studio dead album

The studio run of Workingman's Dead through Blues for Allah is all solid. I also like Anthem of the Sun. I'd be fine never listening to the other albums again.

ok, i'll check those out

i think i basically like the raunchier guitar-toned stuff like this (which reminds me of television a little bit), "touch of grey" and things in that realm i think are pretty boring.

'reckoning' is a good way to listen to the dead playing great songs acoustically live and fairly straight forward

I love the studio recording of "Touch of Grey"! Album it's on is bad, though.

Skull and Bones was my first live album (and I'm pretty sure that's what you've posted) It's sweetened a little bit, but not too far off from what they sounded like. It's a great introduction to what they do.

I heard Touch of Grey on the radio a couple of days ago and I think it is the first time I've ever knowingly heard a Grateful Dead song.
