not asking for your favourite restaurant or favourite item of food in general that you've ordered, what's the number one thing that some restaurant or takeaway near you completely knocks out of the park and you're salivating just thinking of it right now
for me it's the saag ponir at the best local Indian, somehow much creamier than I've experienced elsewhere, has a sauce that doesn't come with their saag aloo, which is also delicious. very glad to have this place in the next town over, I'm spending the pandemic in the middle of nowhere and my options are very limited (a bunch of mediocre to relatively good Indians, one Greek restaurant outside of my regular price range, one okayish Chinese, lots of abysmal pizza and fried chicken). may bump this thread w/ a picture next time I order
throwing the ball your way, help me develop an appetite before dinner rolls around

For my birthday last summer I got the 100 day aged prime ribeye from Grill 23.

there's a teriyaki place that just opened a few blocks from my apartment that makes the most amazing spicy chicken sub. it's so much food but i've gotten it multiple times a month since they opened because it's so good.

This Italian hoagie from Potato Chips Deli. I've been obsessed with it since I first ordered it. I was actually planning to get it again for lunch today.

Damn yeah probably the best thing I've gotten is the peasant pelmini dumplings from Moscow on the Hill, which are beef and pork stuffed in a bed of mushroom sauce and then baked with a layer of cheese. Their stroganoff is super good too, but I'm thinking about thos dumplings
That, or else these potato churros that were perfectly crisp on the outside and perfectly creamy within. Sucks the place is owned by trash assholes

for something that's not desert: lamb shank biryani or maybe the mole negro that i'm still thinking about from last week. the good food around isn't helping me keep my meat consumption down :/

If it has to be lockdown-specific, then the garlic potato rolls from Chicken Scratch. They're these incredibly light and airy potato rolls brushed with garlic confit and sprinkled with superfine parsley salt. Kermit loves them too, so much so that he made me ask the restaurant for the recipe, and to my amazement they actually gave it to us. So now I can do a pretty good dupe at home, which is nice because this place is just a temporary ghost kitchen and it'll probably go away in the next few months as the pandemic clears.

the pandemic side hustles here have been amazing honestly. lots of talented chefs and bakers doing pop ups, deliveries, house pick ups. some of the best food i've had has been in the past year.

we started ordering from a new thai place that has become our undisputed COVID takeout king, but I keep ordering different stuff every time because it's all been so good. I guess the kra pao is probably my favorite

my wife keeps ordering katsu burger
i don't know if it's a widespread menu item but it's a burger where the patty is panko breaded and deep fried
it's a good thing i met her before she met katsu burger or i'd have no chance
