Newark riots is kind of a bulldozer of an event to frame the movie.

bringing in liotta is funny to see, as sopranos casting was a big love note to goodfellas and this looks like a re-make of goodfellas.

Have faith! This is the crew that delivered the Columbus episode, and "Massive Genius. "I trust them completely

i don't know from movies really but i feel like a lot of that is just usual trailer stuff trying to get show people "HEY REMEMBER THE SOPRANOS YOU LIKED THAT RIGHT" to get them interested and hopefully the movie itself is a lot less on the nose?

yea the show portrays him as overly sensitive and maybe somewhat intelligent but that's mainly cos he's surrounded by the dumbest people on earth

my first thought while watching that though was "man i don't need to see a tony soprano origin story" which is sort of a bummer initial impression

that's gandolfini's kid as young tony right? from the trailer that casting stunt seems like a big mistake.

Idk I just also feel like it's important that in the background it feels like he doesn't have that many if any good alternatives to being a huge demon materially speaking

Maybe that's too sympathetic a read

I mean if Chase did make a decent movie it would be marketed like something shittier than it is because that's how things (and historically, the Sopranos) are marketed

but yeah boy, I dunno
