The Game is not a perfect movie.

I don't disagree but can anyone point out a fatal flaw that keeps it off the list?

Next up is The Good The Bad and The Ugly.

The Game is flawed by not being very good or interesting

The good the bad and the ugly is nearly perfect but there’s so many versions out there. I think there is some disagreement about the value of the Civil War sequence. I remember that part being fairly boring but did add to the feeling of it being an epic. Fuck it, I say PERFECT FILM

I really appreciate Michael Douglas in his peak sleazy-yuppy era. I found it compelling enough.

i used to think it was a little overlong, but my most recent watch turned me around on it

i also thought clint's character was a little too much of a jerk, but this time i picked up more how he has mroe pity for Tuco aftter the thing with his brother

though now i feel like there was some torture scene that goes on way too long? might be enough to knock it down but i already voted lol

the game is oddly compelling but it's ultimately too ridiculous to really stand on its own as an unimpeachable piece of media imo

otoh i think here's a great case for gone girl and gwtdt if we want to add some more finch man to the list
I look at bluegrass music as this sort of glowing ball. The point is to relax the technique around the glowing ball of feeling.

Ya that’s kinda the thesis of the thread. I would rather watch There Will Be Blood though I concede No Country is a more perfect movie.

I’m trying to think of perfect movies I don’t even enjoy. Maybe like, Amelie. Not my thing but could be flawless in its execution.

amelie is a scrump ripoff of the double life of veronique. the hint of perfection is kieslowski's, and you're correct to reject it, being a doppleganger wearing his skin

i think the master is perfect, boogie nights is great but also just kind of following scorsese.

also agree that anything kurosawa precedes anything by leone

I unapologetically love Midnight Run like few other films, but it's a bit too long and drags in the last act. Not perfect, though I love it so.

Grodin and Yaphet Kotto both give perfect performances though.
