i cant imagine a more boring adult than someone who rejects something described as heartwarming or wholesome.

yeah, s2 had no plot for more than the first half

I think this show is weaponized to annoy the pasty alcoholics and losers of hipinion, but the first season was legit charming before it became a meme show that your coworkers like

yeah, season 1 had bigger stakes. rebecca struggling to find money to run the team after dubai air or whatever pulled their sponsorshipToggle Spoiler should have been the main plot thread of season 2 but instead they brushed it off after 1 episode. it's a big sophmore slump

i do enjoy the redemption of jaime, though

i love heartwarming/gentle stuff. one of my favorite shows of the last decade is Joe Pera Talks With You. that show is also very funny. ditto like... Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. like saranclaps and many others on this board, i loved Rectify. my ambivalence towards the show isn't rooted in its niceness. i just think the writing is bad!

i'm actually surprised they were able to do an episode with the thread "the government of dubai is bad" without apple nixing it

yeah it's absolutely baffling how anyone arrives at this instead of the fact that "streaming originals" cut at the 2:00:1 ratio all follow the same weird lighting/cinematography trends

would have thought 'this character is cgi' would be about the dude who seems to do everything at the club that the entire coaching staff of 3 people don't do

I really liked how they ended S1, and will probably binge S2 at some point, but everything people are describing about S2 is exactly what I feared would happen.

i haven't watched this specific show because i haven't liked anything that the scrubs guy has ever done but yeah i think the idea that anyone who doesn't like a specific heartwarming thing dislikes it because they don't like heartwarming stuff isn't really fair.

for example, two of the board's favorite podcasts are yks and blank check and both of those have in common that the appeal is less the specific subject matter and more the joyfulness of hearing close friends with a lot of affection for each other.

i think the second season is a step down in quality. To do a stretch of a metaphor, the tricks they're doing are more difficult, but they're not sticking the landings. But I still look forward to and enjoy every episode.
