on the other hand if Last Duel is bad it's a period piece, and a boring period piece is way more boring than a boring slasher film

have you considered going for a hike instead

i'm not going hiking at 9:30 at night

have you considered smoking weed and playing donkey kong country instead

Also, he drives. In the original.

there's a great driving scene in the 5th one where he gives someone a ride without even killing them. One of those rare moments where we get to see MM do something nice for someone.

anyway I watched this on Peacock last night and I'm glad I did because Halloween Kills is terrible. It's hilarious how adamant DGG was about "doing the franchise justice" with the 2018 one, to the point where the title screen is a rotting jack-o-lantern coming back to life (subtle!), only to churn out this dog fart of a sequel that is easily as bad the others, which are no longer canon. Zombie's Halloween II is honestly a better movie than Kills.

anyway I've been meaning to watch the rest of Bates Motel after having a ball with S1 so my one-month purchase of Peacock's pay tier isn't totally worthless.

Lol the Halloween kills hospital slo mo HE’S THE WRONG ONE HE’S NOT MICHAEL stampede is like one of the worst scenes I’ve ever scene in a movie and pretty hilarious. At first i thought it was the same doctor that rushes by and punches Laurie twice but it was probably two different doctors. Man…

Also (no point in really spoilering such an absurd movie) was the last shot…real? I assume it/the death will be retconned as a fake-out for the next film?

it really hit that sweet goofy-ass show that doesn't know what it's doing for me vibe. like the reveal that Norman Bates has an older deadbeat half-brother who just hangs around and annoys Norma is so fucking funny for some reason, let alone that it's the same guy from My Soul to Take, which people are still discovering as a bad movie classic

They should just kill Michael Myers at this point imo. I’m anti death penalty and take no pleasure in saying this. But the dude is just bad news and enough is enough.

Tonight, tomorrow, sometime next week, I’m just saying all other options have been exhausted so it’s time to just kill the dude.

Glad to see this couldn’t even muster 500 signatures.

A Change petition appeared to address Halloween Kills. It demands the movie’s firefighter slaughter sequence to be removed from the movie. The goal is set to 500 signatures, but the creator is hoping to make more noise for their cause.

“It is wrong because firefighters have been lured to houses fire and murdered by the person who set the fire,” the petition reads. “And it’s wrong that Michael killed the firefighters with the gear from the other firefighters he killed.”

The writer specifies that they are a soon-to-be firefighter, which is partially why they find the footage to be offensive. “As a soon-to-be firefighter I find it very offensive and so does my mom and dad who are retired firefighters,” they continued. “So I want that scene taken out of the movie.”

The petition-writer explains how they believe the scene should have played out. “Michael didn’t have to kill them in a way they saved him so he should have saved the two firefighters in the house and went on his way to kill sister,” the petition describes. “There is no reason for that horrible disgusting scene.”

Lol that was like the only part I enjoyed, only cause I was needling my “soon-to-be firefighter” brother the whole time, like… “How is this making you feel?…oof that’s GOTTA hurt…these are your people that are getting eviscerated here, right?”

Michael lost one fan last night, I can tell you that much

I was hoping there would be a surge of bloodthirsty people jumping after that mental patient to try to kill him on the way down to the sidewalk

I need some sort of palette-cleanser horror film after watching Halloween Kills. I can’t head into the 12 Days of Halloween like this.

Check out "The Empty Man" ...we watched it last week and it's pretty great, really wild fun plot and genuinely scary at times. don't bother with the trailer, it's a terrible representation of the film

I also need a palette cleanser after watching HK last night...my friend recommended "The Night House" and she has pretty impeccable horror tastes so that should be fun tonight

Apart from execution being an ugly mess, does the premise of an entire town so fed up with Michael Myers that they rise up in a collective frenzy even make sense in this new continuity? All the "evil dies tonight" stuff seems like it wants to trade on how the audience has gone through this a dozen times over the decades, which is kind of a cheat if as far as this Haddonfield is concerned it was just one crazy night forty years ago.

I did like Big John and Little John. and the “gay couple buying and restoring an old rundown house” is such an accurate Instagram trope lol
