Yeah shit, I'm going to buy some nice beans this weekend and blast a French press on Sunday morning. I've been buying shit lately. I love coffee, it's so good. It's nice to enjoy a crap cup too, so long as it's strong enough

my mom was so proud of herself when she went to visit my sister in oregon

she wanted to buy me some CoolBeanz.GWB.delgrifith.mpg, so she told my sister I like my coffee "dark and smooth," to which my sister apparently responded "really??"

my sister is also a CoolBeanzSnob.xlsx, so I know she knows the drill

anyway, my mom buys me a load of burnt-to-shit dark roast coffee and i couldn't help but let her know that in general I prefer light or medium roast coffee such that I can actually discern the flavors of the coffee fruit rather than just tasting burning embers and it was just another example of times I should keep my fucking mouth shut

I actually started using my moka pot a lot more because I find it the quickest to get set up while I'm making breakfast and my wife doesn't mind using it either. The coffee wasn't as good as my Aeropress for a bit but I found a video of an Australian guy explaining that you should fill it with hot water and not cold (which I didn't know) and that I was packing it too tightly. I use an espresso blend from Has Bean that's meant to be forgiving for multiple methods and now I actually get good coffee out of it.

easy cleanup

i want to try an aeropress sometime though.

i got a free cup of coffee last week from my favorite out-of-town roaster i frequent. just "no, it's on us". it wasn't a mess-up or anything, i had just poured it right out of the fresh carafe myself. it was a good day!

Yeah I was buying and recycling the official Nespresso pods but I switched to trader Joe's pods because they're cheaper and I don't think they're recyclable.

Isn't pour over a bit of a douchy faff? I mean, how particular do you have to be about water temp and pouring style? A cup of javz shouldn't be a fucking science experiment.

bonavita drip 4 life

I like pourover but the shower head drip makes insanely good coffee and probably does a better job at regulating everything than I can, and it makes more than one cup at a time which is crucial when I'm struggling to slam caffeine into my face and get out the door but still want it to taste good

not seeing how it's douchey to be willing to put in a measly amount of effort to control for a couple variables. i just made the switch from french press to v60 and feel like the press was just as finicky, not to mention the messier cleanup.

honestly imo all you need to do for pour over is pour a little through the filter to wet the beans and warm the mug, dump that out, pour
