the montreal screwjob is too interesting to me.

i don't watch wrestling anymore...but I used to be a big fan. Chris Jericho (WCW) was my favorite. The Lion Tamer baby.

remember that one episode of WWF where it ended with like a mafia about to cut off Val Venus's dick? and do you remember when Sable left because they wanted to do a thing where they like "accidentally" walked into her topless with a camera backstage? good times

I remember whole series with Cactus JackMick Foley versus HHH as being really well done. That was probably around the last time I was seriously into something WWF did. I watched every PPV for maybe a year or two after that, but I don't remember anything as good as Cactus Jack/HHH. It probably helped that WCW was still around then and there was still that bit of mystery every week about who might show up on Raw/Nitro. I remember part of the Cactus Jack/HHH thing was Benoit, Guererro and Malenko coming in from WCW to help Cactus Jack and then turning on him.

Royal Rumble 2000 was probably the best match in that series, but the retirement Hell in the Cell was really good too just because it seemed like it was a 50/50 shot on whether he'd win the title or retire since even it seemed so wierd they'd have him go out on a minor PPV (Armageddon if I remember right).

Remember when Jericho would call malenko deano machineo and say dean may be the msn of 1000 holds but he was the man of 1001

Yes, I do. That was back when Nitro wasn't even on in Canada but the house we lived in had a satellite dish so we'd have a group of people over every week to watch Nitro.

I always thought it was cool back then when they'd have Nitro outside, too.

Oh man, I forgot about when he came back for the 4way. It was even more disappointing after he had constantly said he didn't want to be Terry Funk and keep coming back, so when he was done he was done for good. Then he comes back like 2 months after retiring.

I agree about the big spots being a bit of a reach there but I thought part of what made that match (and the whole series) so great was part of what made Mick Foley so great overall - he went all out to make a guy look good who probably wasn't on his level then and that's part of what made HHH a true star. I also liked the finality of Foley losing that match versus the happy ending of him winning the title. It seemed more fitting he go out that way. The Wrestlemania match and subsequent comebacks tarnished that a bit, but I remember it it as the last match that really had me on the edge of my seat about what would happen.

Even better was at the PPV which had Jericho announce the entrants to a cruiserweight battle royal, the winner of which would face him afterwards. He mocked every entrant expertly. In the end it was an unknown masked newcomer that won it when the Ultimo Dragon(?) bizarrely eliminated himself. The guy in the mask turned out to be Malenko and he got a bigger pop than I ever thought would be possible.

Jericho has too many great moments and angles to list. He'll probably be regarded as the best ever when he retires.

It's too bad they didn't put Jericho right at the top when he first came to the WWF. I remember his entrance being huge and he was always so good at interviews. I think in that first appearance he came out and started talking about the rock but he ended up just being some mid-level guy forever until he finally got to be in main events for the title

edit: would be better if it came with a prologue before every fight showing the build ups.

The WWE has done a bunch of "best of" compilations of different guys, but I guess that would be more specific to the guys than the era.

I guess its kind of surprising they haven't done some sort of DVD yearbook or something to recap. I'm sure there are fan-made things like that, though.

I'd offer help but I don't know if I can go back into the world of wrestling webpages and emerge 100% human.

I'd imagine most of the good stuff is probably up streaming on vimeo or youtube (depending on how tough WWE is with taking them down). I kind of want to watch some of these matches again though so if I find anything good I'll post it.

There's been some worthwile shows after Wrestlemania 17... There's a lot of it on Dailymotion.

Invasion 2001 - Okay, so that whole WCW vs. WWE thing didn't work out well, but at least this show was pretty good. Rob van Dam makes his debut vs. Jeff Hardy, and the Inaugural Brawl match is fun. I'm not sure if this holds up at all these days, at the time it was cool just for the novelty of it.
Summerslam 2001 - Kurt Angle vs. Steve Austin, Rob van Dam vs. Jeff Hardy ladder match... just like Invasion though, I don't know if this held up well.

Summerslam 2002 - Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock and Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels in Shawn's first match back. Rey Mysterio vs Kurt Angle...and the Un-Americans were great.
No Mercy 2002 - The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar in a bloodbath hell in the cell match, and one of the best tag matches ever, Benoit/Angle vs. Rey/Edge
Survivor Series 2002 - First Elimination Chamber, Brock Lesnar throwing around The Big Show

Summerslam 2003 - Second Elimination Chamber, Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar (when he was a monster heel)
Survivor Series 2003 - Ambulance match, buried alive match, Vince bleeding buckets, and both elimination matches are great.

(In 2004, Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania XX would be reccomendations, only they're all about Benoit)
Bad Blood 2004 - Very epic Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels hell in the cell match.

ECW's One Night Stand 2005 - For fans of the original ECW, this is a must-see. An Authentic train wreck show, with all the guys showing up. Just seeing Sabu and The Sandman on WWE television was pretty great at the time...not sure if it's still special though.
Survivor Series 2005 - Allround solid show, wrapping up a Smackdown vs. Raw angle, and Kurt Angle is completely over the top with his character at this point... even having the 'you suck' chants censored. Triple H vs. Ric Flair last man standing's also a highlight.

New Year's Revolution 2006 - Another PPV built around the Elimination Chamber. This was at the peak of John Cena hatred, he got booed out of every arena at the time. Triple H vs. Big Show is actually great.
Unforgiven 2006 - Epic PPV, with DX vs. The McMahons and Big Show hell in the cell, Cena vs. Edge in a TLC match, PPV return of Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison who was just getting a heel push at the time.

Royal Rumble 2007 - Great Rumble match... good last man standing match in John Cena vs. Umaga.
Wrestlemania 23 - Both title matches are good, though Batista vs. Undertaker is a modern classic. The rest is a good slice of the WWE at that time.
Cyber Sunday 2007 - Solid PPV, capped off by another great Batista vs. Undertaker match.
Survivor Series 2007 - Same as Cyber Sunday, with another Batista vs. Undertaker match, and Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton.

Royal Rumble 2008 - Madison Square Garden PPV's usually deliver... this one has another fine rumble match, and a Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton title match that people expected a lot from at the time...that didn't pan out, but the crowd ate it up.
No Way Out 2008 - Two Elimination Chamber matches, Edge and Big Show bullying around Rey Mysterio, the classic Big Show/Mayweather angle, and a super hot John Cena vs. Randy Orton title match.
Wrestlemania 24 - Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels is a five star classic, Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather is fun to watch, and the rest of the show has some good action.
No Mercy 2008 - Amazing Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho ladder match, to cap off their months long feud.

No Way Out 2009 - Two Elimination Chamber title matches bookend this show, high drama with most of the top guys involved.
Wrestlemania 25 - Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker could be match of the decade.
Extremel Rules 2009 - Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio from their feud over the intercontinental title, Jeff Hardy vs. Edge ladder match.
Summerslam 2009 - CM Punk arrives as top heel vs. Jeff Hardy, DX vs. Legacy is surprisingly great, as is Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler... good PPV to meet the new faces in the WWE. John Cena vs. Randy Orton has to be the silliest ending to a title match.

Wrestlemania 19 is still my favourite of the past decade. Angle/Lesnar was so good.

If it is HBK and Taker take 2 at WM 25 with Bret refereeing and it ends with Bret screwing Michaels over I'm never watching WWE again

It won't be, but what's up with that. I think I'd enjoy that.

Also, according to Da Meltz this is the WM26 card that they want.

Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
Triple-H vs. Seamus
Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase
Edge vs. Chris Jericho
Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon (probs gimmicked to hell)
and depending on how Linda is getting on, plus his court situation: Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk

They have been talking to the Rock about facing John Cena, if that falls through then its Cena vs. Batista.

Both Jeff and The Rock won't be there.

Bret vs Vince I wanna see but how can it be anything but a joke of a match. I can't remember how gimmicked Hogan vs Vince was now but it'd have to be more gimped than that.
