Luchasaurus rules. Cracking up at JR being like "he graduated college at 22!" trying to put over Page as being brilliant.

Fucking AEW's tag team tournament for the titles should be fucking great:

Young Bucks
Rhodes Brotherhood
Lucha Bros
Luchasaurus/Jungle Boy
Best Friends
Dark Order
Private Party
SCU
Evans & Angelico

Plus the Women's? All the Joshis plus Aja + Awesome Kong plus Britt, Allie, Bea, Kylie and others?

They just have a stellar roster...

Next level streaming. Dual AppleTVs with bleacher app and airplay respectively. Evolve has barely caught my attention but Heyman just showed up. (Kobestreams I ain’t giving them money)Image

Kenny/CIMA way overachieved, I felt like. CIMA feels at least 10 years past the point that he'd have a match that good

These shows have been really fun so far. They need to do something to upgrade the commentary though. It's the only low point so far in the production.

^ Agreed on both those points. I mostly feel like Cima was at his peak like a decade ago. Nice to see he can still put on some great stuff.

And yeah, I dunno what it is about the commentary but it's just.....i dunno. Love JR but he's mostly good for the name recognition at this point. Him being here seems so inorganic.

This Extreme Rules card looks equally terrible and great. Feel like checking out Cesaro/Black, Ricochet/AJ and seeing if they actually put the strap on Joe, but, ehhh...

This show has been... good.

Taker/Reigns tag overperformed, Cesaro/Black was very good, tag three way was fun

Man, that was a lot of rasslin this weekend. Shit I enjoyed with Meltz style ratings:

AEW Fight For The Fallen:
Tag Team Triple Threat *** 3/4

EVOLVE 10th Anniversary:
Gulak vs. Riddle *** 3/4

G1 29 Night 2:
Juice vs. Shingo ****
Cobb vs. Ishii ****
Goto vs. White *** 3/4

G1 29 Night 3:
Ospreay vs. SANADA ****
EVIL vs. Ibushi ****
KENTA vs. Tanahashi **** 1/4

Extreme Rules:
Tag Team Triple Threat *** 3/4
Cesaro vs. Black ****
Usos vs. Revival *** 3/4
Stabbing me 11 times only pissed me off.

^Nice list, I'd also add

Jon Moxley vs. Killer Kross (FSW Natural Born Killers) - This was from that Bloodsport rip off show that Killer Kross put together and from what I saw the event as a whole was subpar but the main event of Moxley/Kross was really good, seeing Moxley wrestle shoot style is sort of a mindfuck. He wasn't great at it or anything but he was good enough, crowd was small but molten hot, and this was just really fun. The non-finish was a let down but hey, what can ya do. If you're in to indy freak show type stuff definitely watch this.

CIMA vs. Omega (AEW Fight for the Fallen) - Awesome match here. Good pacing, good action, good psychology, I've said since the beginning that CIMA was my favorite guy on their roster so it's awesome to see him deliver in his first big singles match for them. I give Omega a lot of shit but credit where credits due, he was really good last night. Omega just has that star presence that everyone else besides Moxley and Jericho are missing that makes all of his matches feel like a big deal. The Meteora off the stage on to the time keepers table was sick. I've seen some complaints that this got too spotty near the end but I think the progression of the match was just fine. All of the meteoras taking it's toll and essentially costing CIMA the match was good storytelling, and even though I'm a CIMA mark obviously the right guy went over, this was still a "star making" performance for CIMA for the casual fans who aren't familiar with him.

Joey Janela vs. Low-Ki (GCW 5150: A tribute to Homicide) - Janela started the match off by calling out Xavier so my initial thoughts were "Oh great, Low-Ki no showed again." I was pleasantly surprised when he actually showed up, and with his working boots too! Either Low-Ki was rocking Janela with a few of these shots or Janela's selling was really great in this match, maybe a little bit of both. Of course Low-Ki went over in the end but he actually gave Janela some offense, sold for him, made him look really good in defeat which is just about as much as you can ask for from Low-Ki these days. Ki Krusher off the top rope through a door was awesome, definitely the highlight of the Homicide Tribute show.

And I haven't had a chance to watch it but DDT Peter Pan looks like it was the best show of the weekend, I can't wait to check it out. Maybe I'll post my top 20 matches of the weekend once I get around to watching EVOLVE and DDT, there was an insane amount of wrestling this weekend.

My best of the weekend:

G1 Night 2/3:
Juice/Takagi - ***3/4
Okada/ZSJ - ****
SANADA/Ospreay - ****1/2

AEW:
Omega/CIMA - ****1/4
MJF/Spears/Guvara vs Allin/Havoc/Janella - ***1/2
Dark Order vs Boy/Dino vs Angelico/Evans - ****

WWE:
Black/Cesaro - ***3/4
Planets Champs/HM/New Day - ***3/4
Ricochet/AJ - ***1/2

This show was super weird, esp that main event after Kross knocked out Dan Severn with one shot moments before-hand. Mox also had very odd gear on for him that would look normal on any other Indy dude. Totally agreed on the finish and non-payoff, this definitely needed Scarlett Bordeaux getting her ass beat by Renee Young.

Some good stuff on the show though, good women's match with two experienced (and charismatic) MMA fighters, Filthy Tom vs Douglas James was great, and if you're into the idea of Simon Gotch getting embarrassed by a thousand year-old Frank Mir, it's worth a watch

^Yeah, definitely a top 3 show of the year. Takeshita/Endo in the main event was phenomenal, my favorite juniors match all year from any fed. Wrong guy went over but still, can't recommend that match/show enough.

Maybe the most surreal thing in WWE right now is the 205 Live feud between Drake Maverick and Mike Kannelis - who outside of 205 Live are treated as such joke jobbers that the idea of them feuding is already bizarre, but in the world of 205 Live, those events are acknowledged and sort of shrugged off but sort of part of the fabric of the feud. There's probably an academic paper to be written of the semiotics and literary theory of how these divergent storylines are playing out.
