Holy shit Moxley/Ishii was peak entertainment
Managed to catch it this morning and can't wait to catch up on some more G1 this weekend. Was a huge fan of Moxley vs Juice, but this blew it away.

I think you could do Moxley/Okada at Destruction or King of Pro Wrestling for the title. Heck, do a Mox/Ishii rematch at the finals for both belts, have Moxley win and threaten to take all three belts to AEW if he beats Okada or something and let Okada get a weird Triple Crown in beating him and maybe set up Okada defending the Openweight vs a Junior on Day One of WK (Ospreay, probably?), against the G1 Winner Day 2 and the US against an American at New Year Dash? (this probably spun into being too elaborate, but still...)

I think it's possible I've wanted a major title collector storyline since WCW was going that way with Lance Storm.

I think I'm thinking it'd be one part Infinity Gauntlet, one part Ultimo Dragon with 9 titles, one part Triple Crown. Zero parts Jericho as Undisputed Champion.

Geez, already having to catch up to a bunch of shows. That's rare for me this early in the tournament. Going to skip night 4 (read spoilers anyway) and most of the undercards.

Cobb vs Ishii has been my clear favorite so far.

Rooting for Taichi big time.

I've mellowed on Juice. Maybe it's the haircut. But growing more and more annoyed with Ospreay. I guess that's to be expected since my ideal is big dudes slamming into eachother... like Cobb abd Ishii! Or any combination of Sekimoto / Okabayashi / Ishikawa / Sato in BJW.

Also have to see DDT Peter Pan. Those dang shows are LONG.

Ishii/Moxley was great, my favorite match of the G1 so far. My only complaint is that Moxley's shitty strikes stick out like a sore thumb in New Japan.

Check out ZERO1 if you aren't already watching it, pretty much anything with Daisuke Sekimoto or Yuji Hino is gonna be great.

Hino's cool. He's always a highlight of the Fortune Dream shows.

I liked early Zero1 shows. They had some surpising match-ups and grittiness, much like Big Mouth Loud. They actually had Hashimoto & Fujiwara vs Ikeda & Sugiura. It was a little too early in Sugiura's career for it to be a asskicking MOTY, but damn that's some nice booking.

Watching some more G1... Gotta say Lance Archer is having a great tournament so far!

Tanahashi's been great as well. Here's hoping Royal Quest will have a meet and greet!

Bray Wyatt/The Fiend re-debuts at SummerSlam vs Finn Balor - guessing he destroys him before Finn takes his time off and returns for a Fiend vs Demon face off

Smackdown was a lot more relevant to SummerSlam build than last night. Kofi/Orton and Owens/Shane were announced as well. Plus Charlotte claims she's going to face someone who will prove she's the greatest woman's wrestler in WWE history.

G1 is back in probably more interesting news, tomorrow morning. Mox vs Takagi! But then takes off again till the weekend :(

I'm quite pleased generally with POST Wrestling with John and Wai (the spiritual successor of Live Audio Wrestling) and def enjoy Observer Radio (which is paywalled)

Most of the other ones I've listened to I haven't been able to get into for long. Tights and Fights is too cheeky, Lapsed Fan feels like a big commitment and I tend to be a little eh about it, the myriad wrestler interview shows are only interesting 1/10 of the time (and they're often real interesting then, but still), Masked Man is fine but never got me going too much, Wade Keller's show is just so full of terrible ads that it's often unlistenable

everything off F4W Meltzer or Alvarez is generally excellent, although YMMV for Bryan's shows as far as content/humor. There is a paywall which sucks, but as someone who listens to at least 7+ hours of their stuff a week I'd say it's well worth it, or at least getting em off Xtreme Wrestling Torrents which itself is worth it for other stuff

Lapsed Fan is good too, I can't listen to it all the time but like deep dive into Screwjob and some of the other PPVs are must listen

If you want best of both worlds, here's a couple little series they did with Meltzer going over every Starrcade and every Wrestlemania up to 30

lapsed fan can be really entertaining and insightful sometimes but holy shit is it amazing how terrible their sound quality is for a podcast making over 5k a month on patreon. it's like they can't even be bothered to just google basic sound engineering/audio technology. they are also close-minded as hell about anything after like 1997. and the constant backslapping broey stuff they do for hours on end gets annoying too. i think my problem is really just Jack most of the time. JP is hilarious

yeah, like be prepared for alot of like 5+min Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan impression bits, which to be fair they are really good at and I find generally hilarious but I could see being really not someone's cup of tea if that's not what you're in to

The work the lapsed fan has done over the last two years is absolutely incredible. Jack deserves some kind of award for the WCCW history they did. A second to none effort.

It's the most well-researched wrestling program of any kind, probably ever

Complaining about the sound quality of two people talking in that context is pretty weird to me (especially because it sounds basically fine? I've never had trouble with clarity of anything?), as is complaining that a show called The Lapsed Fan isn't big on contemporary wrestling

Anyway I'll happily listen to their Hogan scenarios for hours on end and would encourage anyone testing out wrestling podcasts to do the same

Those Meltzer WM bits were the first things I heard from them too, even though they're not overly representative
