Is Ping a threat to static music journalism?
Will Pitchfork be able to transition into the Ping format?
Do u think anyone on Earth reading Altered Zones?

I don't think I have ever looked at the music section of the itunes store...do they offer the music that PFK reviews? Specifically the more "indie" labels?

Am I correct that the 360 will still not do this (.mkv)?

screw apple tv, I'll hulu the one or two shows I'm interested in and torrent/pirate stream the rest

also is apple's slogan still "think different?" because everything they put out seems designed to make people consume more of whatever everyone else is consuming

So, this airplay thing...

Why would you need to stream something from your ipad/iphone to the AppleTV? Wouldn't all that content already be available to you via your home computer?

Steve lives in a world where everyone owns every apple product so you can go over to your friend's house and stream a video from your ipad to their apple tv.

Ping offers nothing new but integration is nice. New shuffle is nice, new nano is dumb, I want the new ipod touch. the apple tv is very nice, the price is right, but it's too dumbed down. hopefully there is an option in the future to hook a external hard drive into the usb port. streaming is nice but not every connection is perfect and i want a media center, not a rental device.

not sure about 360, but I know PS3 doesn't, and it's a huge bummer, let me tell you.

I've been relatively happy with the 360 as my media device so far. I mean, it works but the UI is terrible for the most part.

I could see maybe getting an apple tv for my parents, new nano seems dumb, video only camera on the touch is dumb.

I don't know, I think maybe the cancerous liver was the source of the rdf, that looked a lot like any other infomercial, complete with shill audience shots n

I just bought a blu-ray player that plays .mkv, I'll just throw shit on a flash drive and watch it on the blu-ray player, I can live without streaming for now.

yeah, I really like the PS3 for media. I'm not really a big time gamer so I bought it initially for BD and streaming stuff, for which it performs well, minus the lack of MKV support.

Couldn't spring for a $25 DVD player for your TV?

Yeah, but I've been thinking of getting a mini as a media center

Why not just play the dvd in the mini?

edit: like why would you need the mini AND apple tv? I've got a mini as a media center and it does everything.

Looking forward to Ping and the new nano (still working with a 1st gen).

That's about all I took away from this.

Well I've been thinking of getting a mini, but if I can stream the DVD through the AppleTV, it becomes a better deal instead

For those who watched the video - did Jobs offer any specifics on how it'll take care of iPhone 3g performance issues? I just can't see how a firmware update would fix this tortoise.
so we are having various hot beverages together in the moments we can see eachother.

Yup. I bought one pretty much just for this.

Still have my old Xbox with XBMC setup for streaming so we'll see how this works and the xbox might go to the garbage. Hopefully the nerds figure out a boxee or plex hack for this

Holy shit, they released that Project Swords tech demo for free (it's called Epic Citadel). Everyone with an iphone 4 should download it, it's mindblowing.

Can this play downloaded divx/xvid/mkv files though? or do they all have to be converted to mp4 just as you would if you were loading to an ipod?
