Steve lives in a world where everyone owns every apple product so you can go over to your friend's house and stream a video from your ipad to their apple tv.

Ping offers nothing new but integration is nice. New shuffle is nice, new nano is dumb, I want the new ipod touch. the apple tv is very nice, the price is right, but it's too dumbed down. hopefully there is an option in the future to hook a external hard drive into the usb port. streaming is nice but not every connection is perfect and i want a media center, not a rental device.

I've been relatively happy with the 360 as my media device so far. I mean, it works but the UI is terrible for the most part.

I just bought a blu-ray player that plays .mkv, I'll just throw shit on a flash drive and watch it on the blu-ray player, I can live without streaming for now.

yeah, I really like the PS3 for media. I'm not really a big time gamer so I bought it initially for BD and streaming stuff, for which it performs well, minus the lack of MKV support.

Still have my old Xbox with XBMC setup for streaming so we'll see how this works and the xbox might go to the garbage. Hopefully the nerds figure out a boxee or plex hack for this

Can this play downloaded divx/xvid/mkv files though? or do they all have to be converted to mp4 just as you would if you were loading to an ipod?
