yeah, I got it with 16gb ram/2tb hd so I think 6 weeks is more or less the upper limit but seems that any modifications set the time back at least 3-4 weeks

Kernel errors? Mine crashed once and it was because of my usb keyboard or hub, check what ya got plugged in. Run a diagnostic test and read the reports after it crashes to track it down

so i'm giving my macbook pro to my brother...I mostly only use my 12.9" iPad pro with magic keyboard now when I'm not on my desktop. the new iPad OS has brought it way closer to a traditional laptop, with windows, file system navigation, a mouse cursor with the trackpad, etc
the only thing i'm wondering is, for when i'm at a friends place or something and I wanna download a film from PTP for us to watch...is it possible to torrent on the iPad pro? how do you sideload apps onto it? thx

I run a seedbox which hosts a deluge/transmission webui which can be accessed on an iPad. And then I watch using Plex hosted from said seedbox
Considering that you’d need to pay yearly for a developer account to sideload apps you may as well just pay for a seedbox if this is important to you

i think you'd wanna rent a seedbox/vps or something to torrent then download it via there? they've locked down ios/ipados quite a bit over the years and the last time i messed with sideloading, it involved using 'cydia impactor' to sign IPA files with appleid credentials. not sure if there are any repercussions down the line if you use your real appleid for that, obv use a dummy one if you can

My iPhone 5 finally bit the dust. I’m ordering a Galaxy, I just don’t believe these phones are worth the high price tag and don’t want to go refurbished once again.

Got a 256gb iPhone. Is this heavier than the 128gb? It feels heavier than the model I remember trying at Best Buy

i was gifted some (new) airpods pro and they're unusable. they cut out if i fold my arms. they cut out if i walk six feet from my laptop with no obstructions in between.
my regular airpods work perfectly. i can be 20 feet away from my laptop behind two doors and a wall and they don't cut out at all.
presumably this isn't the experience everyone has had with airpods pro. i guess i got a lemon.

if they’re under warranty take them in. the noise cancelling and later all audio on mine got completely fucked and they replaced them for me for free.

yeah, the ease by which Apple has given me 1.5 new pairs of AirPods Pros in the last 18 months is met only by my annoyance that they're that finicky. My issue has been issues with the audio-canceling mics blowing out and causing feedback. Twice have I gone into an Apple store and told them "this one sounds funny" and they just give me a new one.
I think they actually now have a tool to determine sound issues but battery/connectivity problems will probably just mean they just give you a new pair

Was considering upgrading from my fairly new iPhone SE to a 12 mini. I got small hands! But my main concern is that I really like using the Touch ID and it seems like Face ID is a lot less convenient for Apple Pay. Especially with us all wearing masks and stuff.
Anyone got an opinion on either? My main reason for upgrading would be to get a nicer camera. Otherwise this new SE is perfectly fine. I read a rumor they might add Touch ID to the glass whenever the new phone comes out.

I’ve had two pairs that start to have issues with the noise cancellation too, specifically I’d hear a subtle popping noise with every step I took. They replaced both with new ones each time. It’s apparently a really common issue they havent fixed yet

I love the 12 mini, but yeah Face ID sucks from a convenience point of view. I didn't realize how often I had my hand on my chin since that seems to fuck up the ability to recognize my face. If the SE works you could probably hold out for the 13, but since the mini isn't selling that hot there may not be a small version of that one.
