"Babe" is appropriate if you're Bob Dylan

also i've had both girls be offended by being called girls and boys boys, though they will call members of the opposite sex the same. it's not a description of maturity (though these people have all been under 35) so much as sex

I wrote raskolnikov a letter where I addressed her at this as a joke and her mom read it and took it seriously and called me to yell at me

I think the "two douchebags" skit on SNL and similar portrayals have ruined using the word "babe" for me

If someone is doing this they're probably trying to be an asshole (or they're 70 or a rapist) so, they kinda beat you to the punch.

A really drunk friend of was called out for referring to the opposite sex as "laydayyyyys" (yeah, it was drunkenly slurred to sound as annoying as that looks) and he reacted by slamming his fists on the table and loudly asking, "WOULD THEY PREFER TO BE CALLED NIGGAZ."

The last time I used cute names with a girlfriend was about 3 years ago. Honestly, at this point, I'd have to be with one hell of a lady to ever use cutesy names again (babe, darling, etc)

Works if you are:
a) old enough to qualify for Medicare;
b) a chain-smoking 40+ waitress in a diner;
c) a cowboy.
If none of the above, you can fuck right off with that one.

I've never figured out how you are supposed to address a group of women (mostly in their 30's - 40's) that you work with. I've used guys, gals, people with limited success. I need a go to term.

I say "darlin'" to my friends sometimes but never to people I don't know.
But, then again, I am a cowboy.

Is introducing a girl as your "lady-friend" better or worse than "girlfriend"?
