Don't buy any Brooks made after the Selle Italia buyout

I rode a pro for like two years and it broke spectacularly similar to badhats photo and my junk hurt for three weeks after

I have another from the early 80s which was once considered their nadir that is perfect. You can still find NOS old ones but if you're going the leather route drop the coin for a Berthoud, they're pretty impressive

I'm still pissed I didn't buy a thrashed Nashbar/GT triple triangle 80s road bike with a swift on it for $50

I'm finding my saddle problem is like this: the thicker edges of the saddle towards the wide part get tangled up between like my inner thigh and crotchola, and that causes pain. So the cambium with it's wicked thin edges looked appealing to me.

Did my first Festive 500 this Christmas. Pretty happy, got it done in 5 days with some rare dry(ish) weather. Most volume I've done in a single week all year

the saddle failed gradually over the course of a commute ride and then completely towards the beginning of the ride home. i had some emergency duct tape that gave me and extra mile but ultimately i ended up having to do the last few miles standing up.
There’s no path to a satisfying conclusion at this point.

Congrats on the festive 500 to anyone who got there. Despite being summer here, in all the years I've tried I've completed it once.

I spent like half my vacation watching GoPro videos from Mountain of Hell. How did I not know this was a thing that existed. Completely mental.

Yeah it was 64 here and it's gonna be 67 tomorrow. It's real windy but so warm it doesn't matter. I went out with the fam today and did the leisure ride. Gonna go out by myself in the morning and lay it down a bit

Went out again by myself today. Woman in a sports bra walking the other way on the bike path. Weather is sick.

That sucks but on the other hand my cambium has 15+ thousand miles on it and it's still fine. The way it eats through bike commuter jeans on the other hand makes me reconsider why I'd defend it. I got a new pair recently and it wore a white saddle shape into the ass in 4 commutes. Well the fact that one can do 50+mile rides on that saddle in jeans no problem is the point I guess.

*Edit oh maybe the manufacture quality went down, mine is one of the older cambs obvs

is there a rule of thumb for the size of a kid vs. what size bike to get, accounting for future growth? looking to get my 7.5 year old a new bike.
