chairkicker wrote:it's not a bad analysis really but the chorus goes "here i'm alive, everything all of the time," not "allowed," which speaks to the chaos of the fractured present tense thom's describing and what he's said in the past about it being the noise in his head and the noise around him, however fucked, that keeps him going, that keeps him engaged. it's in that mess he's inspired

i've always thought of idioteque as expressing a kind of coming to terms with the racing thoughts in your head

Idk it sounds a lot like "allowed" to me. I know a lot of people hear "alive" though, it's pretty evenly split between that and the "allowed" crowd.

i'm pretty sure thom confirmed "alive" in the same interview where he was talking about the noise in his head and all that. plenty of radiohead lyrics i've misheard over the years, though

i’ve always like PB well enought but i saw this the other night and realized shes not just a good writer with a good voice but shes an immaculate vocalist in the sense of phrasing choices and tone and control

There’s no path to a satisfying conclusion at this point.

I can't remember if it was in this thread or a different one but a boarder compared a band that started in the 00s to Radiohead and pretty much everyone disagreed that the sounds were similar but agreed that the band was good and I can't remember for the life of me what band it was because I was stupid and forgot to make a note for myself. does anyone know what I'm talking about? I think the band's music was consistently folk-y/alt-country or something

EDIT: the band is Califone so nvm

kinda wish they would just issue refunds and resell tickets when there are actual dates at this point. i don't care about the money, but i hate having this loose end in the back of my mind.

yeah I did. Nothing huge but felt a little embarrassed for her. This huge production and she got the lyrics wrong. It was still pretty but imo if you aren't gonna get the lyrics right in the crescendo of all places, you might as well go full neil and make it funny. Still enjoyed listening to it though.

it should be noted that the 2021 calendar in question is comprised almost entirely of Kid A/Amnesiac era artwork...

i love phoebe b but that cover isn't really anything great
I look at bluegrass music as this sort of glowing ball. The point is to relax the technique around the glowing ball of feeling.

no that's a bad idea
I say we kidnap the band's children and force them (the band, not the kids) to release a new LP every 12 months
