I used to be pretty blase about it - who cares, sure, can't hurt - but this now seems like absolutely terrible, regressive policy. very glad we don't legally have it in this city

Chicago’s historic mayoral race remains wide open with Toni Preckwinkle, Bill Daley and Lori Lightfoot tied with 14 percent and Susana Mendoza at 10 percent in an online/English-only poll conducted over the weekend. (Poll memo here.)
The survey shows 4 percent are unsure about how to vote, down from polls a few weeks ago that had undecideds as high as 20 percent.
The poll was commissioned by 270 Strategies, the consulting firm started by Obama 2012 campaigners. The firm’s partner, Hari Sevugan, says it’s not advising any of the 14 mayoral candidates vying for the seat being vacated by Rahm Emanuel. Change Research conducted the survey. Some highlights:
Numbers down the line: Gery Chico (9%), Willie Wilson (9%), Jerry Joyce (8%), Paul Vallas (6%), Garry McCarthy (5%), Amara Enyia (4%), Bob Fioretti (2%), Neal Sales-Griffin (1%), LaShawn Ford (1%) and John Kozlar (0%).
Voter breakdown: African American voters favor Preckwinkle, Lightfoot and Wilson. Hispanic and Latinx voters like Chico and Mendoza. Among female voters, Preckwinkle and Daley lead. And male voters like Lightfoot and Daley.
Hypothetical runoffs: Lightfoot beats Preckwinkle, Daley and Mendoza. Mendoza beats Preckwinkle and Daley. And Daley beats Preckwinkle.
